MYSTERY BABYLON - Fantasy Adventure Comic - OMNIBUS #1
A graphic novel about a bad girl and a good boy who team up to prevent a world-ending Apocalypse... and do an absolutely terrible job.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sun, January 27 2019 2:59 PM UTC +00:00.
Mystery Babylon is an original post-apocalyptic comic series unlike any other. Think less "gritty wasteland" and more "ancient Rome with goofy demons and superheroes causing a ruckus."
It's a dramatic-comedy-fantasy comic which follows the adventures of Kick Girl, an immortal demon with an unpleasant attitude. Along with her for the ride is Zero, a happy-go-lucky priest, and Delilah, the destiny-driven cult leader.
At the end of the Apocalypse, all of the demons were sealed away in The Pit. A conflicted Kick Girl made a promise to the dying hero, J.J., never to break the seal. A promise she kept for the past thousand years...
Mystery Babylon takes a unique twist on mythological themes about the end of the world, and mixes it with a lighthearted and expressive sense of humor. It's a fun-loving adventure comic suited for both young adults and not-so-young adults. If you love angels, demons, superheroes, mythology, constant backstabbing, name-calling, awkward romances, and holy water squirt bottles... then this is the comic for you!
There are currently 8 completed chapters in the series, so support the Kickstarter to see how the adventure began!
Read Jemma's comic, Children of Eldair! You can also find her on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Patreon! Big thanks to Jemma for the BEAUTIFUL guest art! I really hope backers will enjoy this free exclusive print! ♥
The goal of this Kickstarter is to raise enough money to print Volume One as a perfect bound, soft cover graphic novel. The book will be 6.5"x10", 228 pages long, full color, on high quality glossy paper.
If funding is successful, I plan to produce Volume Two next. Volume Two would include Chapters 4 through 8 as well as bonus material. After that, we could continue in the future with Volume Three.
All Kickstarter backers will get a very special thanks on the Kick-Girl.com website, grouped by pledge tier!
How can you help? You can back Mystery Babylon at any level that best fits you. If paperback books aren't for you, we also have a reward for a digital download. All rewards will go directly to the printing costs. You can help us immensely by sharing it everywhere! Sharing by both social media and by word-of-mouth can make all the difference!
It's tough for independent creators to get their work out there, but with Kickstarter, we can print fun new stories without the aid of big publishers. It's all thanks to awesome supporters like you that we can make this one-woman comic a reality!
Val Hochberg (Val Brazier) was born in the freezing cold snows of Buffalo, NY but moved to the burning heat of the Phoenix deserts to pursue a comic career. She is both the writer and artist of Mystery Babylon. She has been working on Mystery Babylon since 2010 and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon!
You can support her on Patreon and get early access to new comic pages as well as other bonuses!
She really likes Star Wars, Dragon Age, giggling, and her Boosterific husband, Scott.
A big huge THANK YOU! to everyone who supports the comic. Without you, this book would not be possible. ♥
Risks and challenges
This is my third Kickstarter project I'm running. My first two campaigns were both great successes! I managed to get all the rewards shipped out by the estimated date. I learned a lot and I'm hoping for another successful Kickstarter campaign with your help!
This Kickstarter is going to be a huge challenge, because the cost of printing a large book is extremely expensive. I want to offer the books at a low cost, but that means we need to aim for lots of backers in order to reach such a high goal. I don't know what to expect, but I am hopeful that with your help, we can reach a larger audience and make this book happen.
If funding is a success, then printing is the next step! There's always a chance for delays. In the case for all graphic novel projects, there can be delays in both the printing and shipping processes. But I've used Print Ninja for all of my books, and they have always been of exceptional quality!
I always "expect the unexpected" in regards to any potential delays in receiving the books from the printers. If that is the case, I will be sure to keep you all informed through Kickstarter updates.
There could also be delays in shipping books out to supporters, if the Kickstarter goes over and beyond my expectations.
I have some great ideas for some Stretch Goals! Adding these bonuses and add-ons may take a little bit of extra time for production.
Another risk is keeping up proper communication with the backers. I will do my best to answer any and all questions as quickly as possible. I will also be sending out question and request forms to certain backers regarding information for original artwork and such. So be sure to check your emails from Kickstarter.
Thank you all for your support and thank you for reading Mystery Babylon!
- All gone!
