The MAXIS 360 magnetic camera mount is designed to be so effortless, so convenient and so fun to use that it will inspire within you a whole new level of creativity and spontaneity. It will enable you to capture unique and high quality images and video that would otherwise never exist.
There is no other product in the world that offers the instant and effortless one hand total manipulation of your camera that the MAXIS 360 offers.
Because I love to experience peoples lives through the magic of video and pictures, I want to put the MAXIS 360 into the hands of every person who will find value in it and who will use it to create and share unique and high quality pictures and videos with the world...
To do that I'm going to need some help... I already have an excellent team of professionals who are ready and excited to help me make this project a success... people like the team at Rocketship, an industrial and design company... as well as the Founder and CEO of iStabalizer who has successfully launched products that are now sold in stores in 10 countries... These are amazing people who are so confident in the success of my project that they have donated their time, talents and products... with no compensation up front...
So... I'm here on KICKSTARTER because I need to come up with enough money to pay for the design work of the MAXIS 360 (5% of funds raised)... so I can have a minimum production run of 1000 units manufactured (about $15,000 tooling + about $15 each unit)... and then packaged and delivered to you (about $10 each)... as well as cover the cost of any related fees (up to 5% to Amazon and 5% to KICKSTARTER... of all funds raised here on kickstarter.com).
If I reach my goal we can make this all happen for you... the AWESOME backers of this project!
Spread The Word... Let's Do This Thing Together!
Share it with all your social media friends... Tweet it from the rooftops... Feature it on your blog / vlog (or those that you follow)... Mention it in your favorite forums... Email it to your contacts... Tell your co-workers about it... Tell your mom... Tell your pet (don't judge)... Just get it out there...
The More People Who See This Project... The More Successful It Will Be!
In order to maximize the convenience and versatility of your MAXIS 360 You may want to have a CAMERA ATTACHMENT for each of your cameras... or a SPHEROID for each of your tripods or for your other mounting devices and accessories... This will allow you to switch cameras or change camera angles literally in an instant! Or to use multiple cameras at the same time! I like to call that...
- Add $9 to your pledge for every additional iStabilizer that you would like
- Add $10 for every additional SPHEROID
- Add $14 for every additional CAMERA ATTACHMENT
- Add $41 for every additional SPHEROID with MAGNETIC BASE
Let's say for example that you want 3 extra SPHEROIDS, 4 extra CAMERA ATTACHMENTS and one extra SPHEROID with a MAGNETIC BASE. You would simply add...
($10+$10+$10) + ($14+$14+$14+$14) + ($41) = $127
So, after you choose your reward level you would just add the total of all the extra pieces you want ($127 in the example above) to your total pledge amount... For example, let's say you choose reward #7 the BASIC + ISTABILIZER MOUNT PACKAGE for $60. You would simply enter as your pledge amount the sum total of the extra pieces ($127) plus the reward level ($60) which would be $187. (Don't worry, we'll be sure to get the details of exactly what you want before we ship them out.)
If this project is a success and the MAXIS 360 takes off... we, for sure, plan to produce various bases and accessories to offer with the MAXIS 360, based on what YOU the backers want. This may include bases like...
- A Clamp
- A Suction Cup
- A Beanbag Type Friction Mount
- A Chest Harness
- A Wall Mount
- An Adhesive Disk
Or other accessories like...
- A Smartphone Adapter
- Adapters For Other Devices
- You Name It!
(Be sure to let us know in the comments what you would like to see so we know where to focus our efforts in the future.)
The MAXIS 360 is designed to instantly and effortlessly attach to an infinite number of bases... allowing you to attach virtually any camera instantly and effortlessly to almost any surface... with just one hand.
The iStabilizer Mount (Smartphone Tripod Adapter)
If you want to use the MAXIS 360 with your iPhone or other smartphone then you will definitely want to choose one of the reward levels that include the iStabilizer Mount. It works with any smartphone and any case... and you will not find it at a better price... anywhere!
(Supports iPhone, iPod Touch & all Smartphones & cases up to 2.75" [7cm] wide)
The MAXIS 360 makes a really nice handle for one hand operation and works well to stabilize hand held video shots...
I like using my car as a stabilizer... You never know when you will find a great picture while you're driving around...
And... it seems like there's always so many metal things to stick it to...

Where The Idea Came From
Good question... but hard to answer... It depends...
Speaking of the prototype seen in the video... (we are working on a more heavy duty DSLR version)... As a general rule, the smaller and lighter the camera the more functionality you will get from the MAXIS 360...
The testing that I have done has been limited to the cameras that I own...
I am comfortable attaching my 6oz Flip Ultra HD camcorder (about the weight of an iPhone) to the side of a car moving at normal around town speeds with no problem... I haven't done any high speed tests just yet (I wouldn't recommend anything extreme)...
Though the MAXIS 360 will hold my Sony DCR-TRV27 camcorder (1lb 10oz) and my Nikon D40 DSLR (1.6lbs) to the side of my car I would never drive around with them there. Functionality decreases more and more with weight and size...For those heavier cameras, I use it strictly as a stationary mount... like a tripod... And only for landscape orientation... the magnets are not strong enough to hold those camera's at a 90 degree angle for portrait orientation... Also, balance plays more of a role in larger cameras... for example, my Nikon D40 is front heavy because of the lens and I can't tilt it very far forward (down) before it starts to slip. If it was balanced with something like a lens collar I would be able to tilt it further...
As far as the base goes, it depends on the surface that you are sticking it to... It will hold better to thick bare steel than to something thin and flimsy or with a thick coating of some kind... You just have to feel it out and use common sense when trying different surfaces... I would not recommend using it to hold any camera over 1lb 10oz to the side of a vertical surface (like the side of a car) and even at that weight I would be very careful and feel it out...
So, the bottom line?... The MAXIS 360 is designed for cameras at or around the 6oz mark (or less)... however, it can be used with larger cameras (up to around 1.5 lbs) but with decreased functionality as weight and size increases.
