How This Works: I have 30 days to raise my goal of $10,000. This is the amount needed to cover the cost of:
-recording 8-song album at THUMP Studios in Brooklyn
-mixing the album
-mastering *what is this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_mastering
-pressing physical copies with artwork.
Any amount raised over the goal will go towards promoting the album, which is really important as well. If I don't successfully meet my campaign goal, all money donated will go back to each donor. It's all or nothin'!
Quick Backstory: My last release, "She Never Sleeps", made for an exciting past year of shows in Europe, features in Paste Magazine, a live performance on Philly's WXPN radio, a video with NYC's Downtown Love Productions, thousands of plays/downloads on Spotify and iTunes and making lots of new fans along the way.
This Project: I'm doing this Kickstarter campaign because I believe this is the best album I've written to date and I think you're really going to love it! I moved from Maine to New York City six years ago to pursue music and become a better songwriter. This album has been slowly developing during that time. It tells the story of some small town kids that run away to the city together, each song representing a new chapter of their journey. I've never taken this "story telling" approach with a collection of songs.
My past albums have all been self-funded, working a day job in order to support my music costs. However, the financial weight of each previous album has led to a large amount of lag time in order to gather the funds needed for the next one. A successful Kickstarter campaign will allow me to have all the funds needed up front which also ensures an (awesome) album that I'll be able to deliver to your ears ASAP!
I'm truly grateful for all your support over the past few years. Together, I think we can make this an amazing project. Thank you for being a part of it!
*Special thanks to Scott Fahey for this video and Doug Seymour for the photo!
Risks and challenges
As I've previously completed 3 other albums, there are few risks for this project. I've set May 2014 as a release date, however, due to my day job schedule (gotta pay the bills!) and the schedules of the studio, the mixer and the mastering company, this date could be pushed back a month.
This is a worst case scenario. I'm even hoping to have the album completed and released before May 2014, but I want to make note of this just in case.
My top priority is to complete this album and release it in a timely fashion!
