@Erik We are familiar with their product. Our product is indeed quite innovative when compared to theirs.
Unlike the theirs, the iLuun uses USB 3.0 which is a major upgrade to their USB2.0.
Therefore our transfer speeds are much faster and our power consumption much lower.
In addition, we provide a longer battery life and a more intuitive app which is the brains behind the product.
Overall, our product is a total upgrade to theirs and from the feedback we have received from beta testers, work much better as well.

@Anthony Our USB 3.0 transfer speeds are actually average, if not above average, for general USB flash drives. Matthew gave some great examples below.
iLuun Inc Creator on October 24
@Konstantin The device will not allow for simultaneous USB and wireless connection unfortunately. This is a software-related issue. If there is demand for this feature we will look into a way around this

I see some comments for Sandisk on Amazon which stopped me from buying it. Recommend you read through it and make sure iLuun doesn't suffer from the same issues. The most important use case for me would be extra storage for mobile devices, so data integrity and accessibility are critical! Good luck!

Yeah cool.. 125% funded. Hopefully another campaign that stays on schedule unlike 80% projects that came with DOA hardwares or creators not communicating with its community on KS

Hi, I am a blind iPhone user. I would really like you to make the iOS application accessible with VoiceOver. If you would like more information about VoiceOver, feel free to contact me ☺️
Erik Cesek on October 21
What makes your device different then the Sandisk version and what are average wireless transfer rates?

Creator - Can your phone be connected to both the internet wifi and to the iluun at the same time?
J Master - That is a USB 2.0 device. Google it. The author of that article was definitely confused.
Anthony - Actually 140 MB/s is quite fast and is definitely USB 3.0 speed. Aside from the the "Extreme" USB 3.0 products which are very expensive and not always practical, most USB 3.0 are about 100 MB/s like these 2 http://bit.ly/2enJkRf or http://bit.ly/2enUyrO

Why is it so slow if it is USB 3.0? Is this the speed when using the Wi-Fi? Because if this is the speed when plugged into an USB port something is wrong.

Is it possible to allow simultaneously connect via USB and WiFi? It'll be a killer feature.
Is it firmware or hardware issue?

Alexander, The file system uses exFAT. It is possible to save file of any type from a Download folder on an Android smartphone to a specific folder on the iLuun. It is also possible to browse iLuun file system from Android phone to Upload/Download specific files or entire folders.
In regards to the encrypted partition/container for Windows/Linux, we will look into this and get back to you on it. Thanks for the questions.
iLuun Inc Creator on October 17
@Joel, Great question. You are able to transfer all files that is on the device. When I mention it cannot transfer files connected to an app - an example is Netflix.
You are able to watch Netflix movies within it's app, however, you don't own the content thus you wouldn't be able to transfer a movie from the Netflix app to your device. I hope this answers your question

@Almog Up to 140MB/s Ream 50 MB/s Write. You can definitely use the internet while connected to the iLuun wirelessly. Our device allows for pass thru mode, which enables you to access the web via wifi or cellular data while still connected to the drive.
Alexander on October 14
What is the file system on the flash - NTFS or exFAT (for 256GB)? Is it possible to save file of any type from for example Download folder on an Android smartphone to a specific folder on the iLuun Air flash dive? Is it possible to browse iLuun Air file system from Android phone to Upload/Download specific files or entire folders (for example the whole Titanium Backup folder)? Is it possible to have on iLuun Air encrypted partition/container for Windows/Linux like here https://github.com/t-d-k/LibreCrypt (for Windows) and here https://gitlab.com/cryptsetup/cryptsetup (for Linux)?

So is it possible to transfer photos/ videos/ documents from the apps in iPhone to iLunn Air? Since u mentioned that "If it is connected to an app/the app store and not it's own file system, then it will not be able to transfer to the drive."

I have another question to ask you,
when my phone connects to the DOK via wireless, can I use the internet? or it's lock?
Almog on October 13
@creator
What is the transfer rate when it connect thru USB?

Frosty, great observation. I can inform you however that our product is a complete upgrade to our competitor. The biggest difference being that we are USB 3.0 compared to 2.0 ... This allows for improved data transfer rate, power consumption, data rate, security, and pairing reliability.
Our app is also alot more streamlined and simple to use with ofcourse much more features.
Battery life is also much better and charging time is half the time that it takes for their product.
Overall, when it comes to performance, iLuun is the better option

Royce, My apologies for not responding earlier. The project has only been launched for 2 days however so there really has not been a lack of replies on our part. We were also not aware of the comment feature on Kickstarter. We will always try to answer questions in 48 hours or less.

Srikanth, The device can be charged by plugging it into the USB port of your laptop/computer, or into the USB port of a USB wall adapter.
iLuun Inc Creator on October 13
Djayawarman, Great suggestion! We will work on getting out another video soon.
iLuun Inc Creator on October 13
Royce, The drive will allow you to store actual file folders and media. If it is connected to an app/the app store and not it's own file system, then it will not be able to transfer to the drive.
Best way to look at it is, if the file cannot be stored on a regular flash drive, then it will also not be able to transfer to the iLuun.
iLuun Inc Creator on October 13
Mendax, the USB 3.0 connection can connect to a laptop/computer as a mounted drive just like a regular USB flash drive would. The wireless wifi connectivity does not work simultaneously however. Plugging in the device into your laptop is also a method for charging the device.
The device is enabled to show the entire storage space and not subfolders.
The device is accessible via the wifi network on up to 6 devices. Each user would have to know the password to connect however (for security reasons). Our technology does allows for Internet pass thru mode, which enables you to access the web while still connected to the drive.

@Richard. Great Questions. Currently the media player ends after each video. If users have a preference for continuous video play, that is something that can be implemented on the software side. The media player does play 4K and 1080p videos beautifully.
The file manager in the app is streamlined for you to edit it as if it were on a desktop computer. You are able to move files around, rename files, create video/music playlists, etc.
For pictures, you cannot display them in "automatic" slideshow format. You do however can swipe left/right to go through the images. This is also something else that can be edited on the app. I will take note of this and shoot it over to our devs.
And for your final question, we have builtin viewer for each of those file formats.
I hope I was able to answer all of your questions. If not just let us know or send us a message.

O wow! Didn't realize there was a comment section. These are some GREAT questions. We will get one of our techs to answer all of your questions later today.

Please upload a video using people actually using the iluun. How fast is the transferring data via wifi? I have similar device called mobilite sometime too slow and wifi like to disconnect.
Please make a detail on this spec. thanks

Hello.
Will the app allow transfer to the drive of movies, games, ibooks or audio files that have been purchased from the appstore?
I've run out of room on my iphone and it would be great if this were possible.

Hi, I have been looking for something like this for ages. A few questions please: Can you use the USB connection to attach the device to a PC and show as an accessible, mounted storage device at the same time as the wifi accessible storage is available? i.e. could it be used as a sort of wifi-USB file-based pass-thru? Could the device be enabled to show either the whole storage space or user-selectable sub-folders as NFS or CIFS/SMB network shares? Would the device be accessible either locally from other devices on the wifi network it was enabling the Internet pass-thru for, and/or remotely (with the appropriate firewall & routing rules) or just it's own hotspot?

Does the media player allow continuous play of videos (when one video is finished, it will automatically play the next video)? What is the max resolution of the videos that this device supports? Can I view 4K videos with this? What about HD 1080p @ 60fps? Will the app allow you to create multiple playlists to show certain videos? Regarding pictures, can you show pictures in slideshow format (view a picture, then after a certain time the next picture shows)? If so, can you change the time interval for the slideshow? Are you able to create folders to store and separate file contents? Will the app allow you to rename files? The description says it can support documents such as DOC, DOCX, PDF, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, TXT. Is there a built-in viewer that would allow you to view these documents through the app? Thanks for the info.
