is behind Krust?
by two young passionate restaurateurs, Kevin Wirtes and Rich Garcia. They met while
working a corporate IT job and through common passions (cycling, food, beer,
and whiskey) became fast friends. Both
realizing the same desire to leave the cubicle life behind and take a risk at a
dream, Kevin and Rich decided to take the leap and open up a restaurant/bar.
offers delicious wood-fired pizza, daily specials, and tempting small plates.
Set in a cozy relaxed environment with a beautiful whiskey bar, boasting well
over 200 whiskies. Krust offers fresh, creative, real cocktails and has 12
ever rotating craft beers, Krust is quickly becoming a destination for people
looking for more than just the ordinary.
is our vision and why do we need your help?
Krust first opened in January, the space has been busting at the seams. With
long waits for tables and the difficulty of seating larger parties in a 400 sq.
ft. restaurant space, it became evident right away that more space was needed. Not much longer since the doors first opened, the
space next door to Krust became available. In an effort to expand
and with the future in mind, Krust acquired the space, with plans of providing
a bigger dining area, larger more comfortable tables and seats. The reality is, Krust is a very new
restaurant in a competitive market. Krust
needs this extra funding to make their vision come true. Krust wants to make a unique, fun, and
comfortable space for more people to be able to enjoy. It will allow for larger parties, private
events, and special dinners.
contribution will go towards:
-Build out and design of new space
-Allowing us to hire additional local
employees (currently employing over 10 Middletown residents).
-Adding a hood to our kitchen which will
allow for more plate options, focusing on rotating seasonal small plates
-Future plans are to increase bar space as
well, this is the next step towards that
Risks and challenges
We will work with Town officials and Connecticut Liquor Control to ensure expansion is completed within all rules and regulations.
A challenge we face is completing the addition with little to no impact to the existing space. We look forward to creating a unique space that is cohesive to our current restaurant and bar!
