The Q.D. Foodie Kitchen Tool Collection is a uniquely designed utensil set that engages and inspires kids (and grownups!) in the kitchen.
Q.D. Foodie Kitchen Tools are bright and colorful, just like real fruits and vegetables. The pieces are made of silicone and nylon, making them super sturdy, and they're dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze. With imperial, metric, and braille measurements, everyone can be included and measure perfectly. This utensil set is designed to promote imagination, creativity, and collaboration, and of course, to be lots and lots of fun!
The first step to getting kids into the kitchen is to make cooking really enjoyable, and with your support, we will have the perfect tools to do this. By empowering kids to learn how to cook, be creative, and eat healthier with their own set of utensils, we are helping to create lasting memories and family traditions. So please help Q.D. Foodie Kitchen Tools reach our goal, and kids all around the world can start playing with food!
As our way of giving back, a portion of our proceeds will be donated to the Houston Food Bank and Leket Israel National Food Bank. We are looking for even more ways to give back, too, and with your help, we can make a big difference!
Hi, I’m Quinn Daisy, but my friends call me Q.D. for short, and here is the story of how my tools and I were created.
In 2003, my creator, Marci Heit, started volunteering as a puppeteer for a show that focused on understanding, appreciating, and embracing all kinds of people. Marci is a professional voice over artist, so she had a great time voicing the big and colorful personalities of the show’s characters. Quickly, she discovered that she loved being involved in a project that had such a powerful impact on people!
After the performances, a rotation of speakers would talk with the children, and Marci enjoyed getting to know one of them very well. This presenter’s name was Elda, an amazing 90-year-old woman who lost her sight at the age of 70. However, Elda never let that stop her from doing all of the things she always loved.
Elda shared stories with Marci about how she loved to bake. She even brought Marci into her home, where her kitchen was marked with DIY braille to help her navigate when baking. This was truly inspiring to Marci, because despite Elda’s challenges, she always used her ingenuity and positive personality to accomplish her goals and reach her dreams.
In addition to voice acting, Marci owns and runs an animation production company called “It’s Real Entertainment,” where she helps bring dreams to life; but this time it’s Marci’s turn. Elda had such an impact on Marci, she used her skills to invent me, Q.D. I am a character inspired by Elda, embodying her many wonderful qualities, and like Elda, I love to make things with food. When my foodie friends and I are together, we can get pretty creative in the kitchen, so we designed these really awesome tools to help us have even more fun making things with food! Marci really loved the way they turned out, so with her help and yours, we're making real ones, too. And when we do, everyone, real and pretend, will be able to enjoy them!
When you’re looking for a great way to bring family and friends together in the kitchen, think Q.D. Foodie Kitchen Tools, and make making food more fun!

Risks and challenges
As with any new product, there are always risks and challenges. For Q.D. Foodie Kitchen Tools, the cost of tooling for the 7 piece set is our main objective. In our case, we need 2 molds for each utensil. One mold is for the high strength, durable plastic injection mold, and the other is an overmold for the silicone grip, which slides over the handle section of each tool. These tool costs are quite a barrier to entry.
It has been a challenging road to get to this point. In the past two years, we have done everything we can to overcome this immense cost. We have visited many overseas partners and have seen their facilities. We know that our manufacturer can deliver the quality that we expect, the volume that we're going to need, and the food safe production we require, all at a cost that we can manage to get started.
Producing our tools overseas significantly reduces our start-up costs. However, such costs remain high. If you see the value in our vision and in these tools, please consider contributing. Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
