About

The Story

Dead-ish is a dark comedic web series about Darla, a ghost host, who lives with three male ghosts. All she wants is to lead a regular life, have a career, and find a good man--not so easy when you have three annoying not-so-dead roommates! They need her help to figure out why they are not able to move on, and she better do it quickly because a new ghost will be assigned to her every three months, whether she's completed her current assignments or not.

The series is a fun mixture of comedy, horror and mystery-- like Beetlejuice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and New Girl all in one. Check out our pilot episode!

The Goal

We hope to complete season one with five additional episodes, each 7-8 minutes in length, for release on YouTube and Facebook. Reaching our goal will allow us to allot 2K per episode, which will go towards food for the cast & crew, filming locations, production design, equipment rental, wardrobe, make-up, and post production.

The Main Characters

Darla (28): Darla is a successful wedding planner, too busy with her career to meet her Prince Charming. Being a chosen ghost host since she was sixteen hasn’t helped her odds either. She longs to live a normal life and feels resentful towards the ghosts when they get in the way.

Ron (22 – ghost): Ron died in 1963 while pursuing an engineering degree at an Ivy League school, his dreams of NASA blown up with one miscalculation. Since Ron was Darla’s first ghost, he is very loyal to her and can often be territorial towards new ghosts in the house.

Pedro (26 – ghost): After suffering his father’s rejection for coming out, Pedro emigrated from Venezuela and worked at a health food store in Santa Monica before his untimely demise, the mystery of which has never been solved. He enjoys pranking visitors and getting on Ron's nerves.

Austin (28 – ghost): Austin is pretty sure he died in a fiery car crash going 200 mph down the speedway, but in fact, it was more mysterious than that (and definitely not as cool). Austin is your basic bro: a narcissistic, selfish douchebag who only thinks of making bank, driving fast, and getting laid.

After working in the New York film industry, she started her own production company, Leprika Productions, in South Florida. Much of his work is steeped in mood and emotional resonance but he is known in some circles to have a deft hand at writing comedy. He is also Chinese and rather opinionated in matters of art and food.

Risks and challenges

I am currently writing the rest of Dead-ish, Season 1. Pending a successful campaign, we plan to immediately go into pre-production early next year and start filming the rest of the season in the spring. The actors are in place, and the crew is ready!
