About this project
It is 2014 and ebooks, apps, and digital readers are everywhere. It is finally time that we read a truly modern love story the way it is intended to a be read in a digital world. e-love is new type of eBook\app that allows the reader to peer into the digital correspondences of a couple falling in love.
e-love is a project, a story and much more. It is a love story we all create from our own modern relationships and the funny part is, we don't even know we are writing it.
This project shows how love manifests itself in everything we do. As we relay on and use technology more, it is no surprise that our emotions and feeling spring out of the content we are constantly creating. From the way we lay out our messages, to the pictures we share, the font we use, the size of the font, the timing of our replies and so much more. Our electronic love story is ever present.
In 2007 I met the love of my life and since then, we have been inseparable. In our early months of dating and even now, we speak on the phone for hours, text, email, BB and contact each other as much as we can through as many mediums as there are around us. And I save every last bit of it. Due to my profession in IT, I am compelled to save, keep, backup and never throw away any bit of digital information.
In 2009 we were engaged to be married and I became infatuated with our story and began going through all of this content that we had generated. Quickly after I started, I could see a love story playing out in front of me. The content was there, the story was written, and in essence I was reading my own love story. I eventually came across an email from my wife that mentioned how amazing it had been emailing together and that we should one day publish all of our great messages together in a book.
On our wedding day she received just that. The very first copy of e-love.....Our digital love story.
At the time it was a paper bound book with images of emails, texts and other messages laid out in an interesting conversation flow but still printed on paper. Back in 2009 ebooks were just starting and there really weren't any good methods or devices to showcase a truly digital love story.
e-love is broken-up into small correspondences like this and everything is already, parsed out and laid out and of course written.
There are approximately 150 conversations of varying lengths and types. These correspondences do everything that can be done with word play, text, font, spacing sizing etc.
References to times and places also become more vivid with these types of messages
Having shown this story to an app developer (Forward Wave Technologies), they were eager to help me create this vision and bring it to life.
The only thing left to do now, is to continue working with Forward Wave Technologies on converting these segments into a following app and ebook.
That is where you in!
First of all, thank you for reading my story and for already being part of this. This project is looking for funding to have e-love further developed into an app and ebook so that it can be realized in the format is has always meant to be. All funding will go to the re-digitization of the story and towards the marketing of the story once the apps are completed.
Anything that you can contribute is of course much appreciate.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for even considering being a part in this project.
Risks and challenges
Seeing as though the content and book is already written, fulfillment will hopefully not be an issue.
If in the case that it seems as if the chosen app developers are unable to finalize the apps on time, I will quickly to alternative developers that can finish on schedule if needed.
Having already consulted with developers and due to the relatively easy programming nature of this type of product, I do not foresee this being an issue.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
