What is Card Arcade (the previous title)?
Currently available on both Windows 8/10 and Windows Phone, not using a specific game engine, this game is coded natively for these platforms. The game has been highly popular and featured on several Windows and Windows Phone tech sites during it's time in the stores. We have received a lot of positive feedback that has lead us to pursue a follow up title to the game, Card Arcade 3D. The current game offers players several games including Memory, Blackjack, Go Fish, War, Karma and Old Maid.
What is Card Arcade 3D?
Following up on the success of Card Arcade, work has begun on Card Arcade 3D. The game is using the Unity3D game engine and is being planned for release on Steam, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game carries on the same theme of the previous game, a hub full of different card games. The game is set to include the same card games seen in the previous version with many improvements, but is also set to include many additional games depending on funding levels reached.
What new games will be included if funding is received?
On top of the existing games being remade for the new version, we will be including:
- A variation of Skip-Bo
- A variation of Phase-10
What makes Card Arcade different/special?
There is currently nothing of this scale available that is cross platform. We plan to make some of the games playable multiplayer across a Wi-Fi network and online, across platforms (with the exception of Xbox One and PS4 not being cross platform). Our goal is to make a game you can pick up and play solo or play any of your friends, without worrying about what OS they are running on their phone.
Unlike any other titles currently available, we also aim to make your Card Arcade 3D stats and game progress sync across devices (again with the exception of Xbox One and PS4). Start your game on your phone and then pick up game progress on your tablet or pc.
What is the timeframe for the game?
Providing we don't come across any platform specific hurdles, we are aiming for a December release date for the game.
Game development is a costly venture including game assets/resources and development time. Card Arcade 3D takes our games to a whole new level and we want to make sure we can do it right!
Having this project on Kickstarter allows us to raise funds we can put directly back in to game development. The more funds we raise, the more games and game modes we can include in the initial release. The funding will also allow us to purchase additional development hardware and testing hardware to help us polish the game and ensure it is well tested before it's release.
Why are you not asking for much funding?
Card Arcade 3D has just started being developed. As such, the funding goal we have set is the minimum we ideally require to help us obtain some additional development and testing hardware for the game. We are however going to be setting stretch goals throughout the kickstarter, with more game content being added for each stretch goal, both on launch and after launch in DLC packs. Funding levels will also have an impact on what games will receive online play capabilities.
We are an Australian software development business. We've published several self published titles and some third party titles. Our self published titles (primarily Card Arcade & Wheel of Wealth) have built up close to 700,000 downloads and maintain a 4+ average star rating.
Risks and challenges
Ability to test across a wide range of devices. We are planning a wide platform range on launch and as such funding only goes so far. The more funding we receive, the more devices we can obtain for testing the game prior to development, along with future updates to the game.
We are in the ID@Xbox program for publishing to Xbox. However the ability for us to publish this title to the Xbox one will require Microsoft to sign off on the title as it goes through it's development cycle.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
