When you wear a helmet or headset with regular sunglasses, they push the sunglasses into your head, leaving you with an annoying indentation and a real headache.
As a private pilot, I spent years trying different brands and styles of sunglasses to find a pair that wouldn’t give me a headache while wearing my aviation headset, but none of them were good enough.
After years of searching, I finally did an experiment. I brought my sander and a bunch of different sunglasses to the garage and spent all night sanding down the temples to see how thin I could make them. After getting one pair down to just 1mm, I knew I was on to something.
After the initial "Eureka!" moment, I went back to the drawing board, researched the lightest, strongest, newest materials and designed frames to be the perfect sunglasses to wear with an aviation headset. I was granted a patent and…
That's how Flying Eyes was born.
My original Flying Eyes are now worn and loved by thousands of pilots and other adventurers across the globe.
Once I started selling Flying Eyes, in August 2012, I quickly discovered there are a lot of people who wear helmets or headsets every day – not only pilots, but also motorcyclists, EMTs, firefighters, construction workers, music lovers, gamers, and more.
As word of Flying Eyes got around, people told me how much they loved how light and comfortable the sunglasses are, but wondered if I could make the frames in different sizes, styles and colors.
Last year, I did something big. In response to requests for more Flying Eyes, I sold my plane, hired an incredible eyewear designer and, together, we’ve created some impeccable new styles, as fashionable as they are comfortable.
Every detail has been considered, from how they feel under headsets, headphones, and helmets, to how they fit and look, how durable they are, and how precise the lenses are.

The Peregrine, our classic readers, are the most durable readers you'll find. With scratch-resistant polycarbonate lenses and frames made entirely of Ultem, they are light, flexible and virtually indestructible.
With our signature micro-thin temples, they're perfectly comfortable for long sessions of computer work with a headset on, or listening to music with headphones while reading a book, or to read fine detail on aviation charts when it's too dark for sunglasses.
The Falcon, our safety glasses with user replaceable clear, gray-tinted & yellow-tinted lenses — and yes, they come with all three lens colors — are no ordinary safety glasses. Made entirely of Polycarbonate for superior durability. Mil-Spec ANSI Safety Eyewear Rated.
And because they feature ultra-thin (1mm) temples, they slip effortlessly under any helmet or headset, so you can easily slide them on or take them off.
Whether you wear a hard hat, military helmet, shooting ear protection, or any other safety headgear, these will protect your eyes without being a pain in your head.
In the process of testing and prototyping these new designs, we decided to use a patented new polymer called Ultem, a super light and flexible material originally developed for the aerospace industry. We discovered that Ultem is the perfect material for Flying Eyes temples because of its extreme durability, making Flying Eyes virtually indestructible.
Try doing this with a regular pair of sunglasses:

Flying Eyes frames come in a variety of colors, with multiple lens options.
