Hello, my name is Jeff and my co-founder is Blake, together we make Lono Sauces.
This all started about 7 years ago when Blake decided that he was tired of having 25 different kinds of hot sauce in his cabinet. He figured it would be better just to have 2 or 3 that he really loved. As he had yet to find the perfect sauce he was looking for he figured he should just try and make it.
I can attest to the fact that his first several attempts at making a sauce were so hot that no sane person would eat them. As he did not fall into that category he ate them all him self. After being convinced by friends (myself included) to lower the heat level to something that could be described as "relatively safe for mortal man" we soon realized Blake had made one hell of a hot sauce.
At first the sauce was given away free to friends, family and other miscreants. Soon they began to ask for more sauce than Blake could produce and it dawned on Blake that things like peppers and spices cost money so he started ask these people for money. As it turned out they were only too happy to pony up the cost of production as long as it kept the sauce flowing.
At that point Blake and I decided to form a business and try to get Lono Sauces to as many people as possible, which brings us here. With your backing we will be able to make Lono's commercial sized batches and begin to get our sauces to stores, restaurants and your table. We are eternally grateful for any help you're willing to give us to get our company off the ground.
We're trying to figure out how much international postage costs. Right now we have a "Rest of the World" option set up, but we had to estimate high. If you're outside the US and you would like to back us just send us a message saying what country you're in and what reward you're interested in. Once we have that we'll do some calculations and add an option for your specific country that will cover the cost of postage.
Goal #1: $8,000 - REACHED!
With $8,000 we can finalize our third flavor. It's going to be something in the area of "This is so hot, why did you make this so hot? Who would make a sauce this hot?" but ya know, tasty. So if that is your kind of thing please help us get there!
Goal #2: $12,000
With $12,000 we will be able pat the initial costs required to move production into a larger kitchen. It will also allow us to buy professional grade equipment. This will enable us to get all the prep work that goes into a making the sauce done much faster and make each batch of sauce larger.
Risks and challenges
With any project that involves the large scale production and shipping of a product there is always the possibility of logistical complications. Whether those come in the form of not enough time to produce the needed goods or trouble getting bottles shipped in time to each backer.
We believe that we have given ourselves enough lead time that we will be able to get all the sauce we need made and shipped well before their respective due dates. In case production demands are higher than expected we have already talked to our commercial kitchen and they said they have plenty of extra time available if we need to work overtime to get our rewards fulfilled.
With these contingency plans in place I have all the confidence in the world that everyone who backs this kickstarter will get their rewards by the stated dates.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
