The Right Regrets depicts a bittersweet and poignant long distance romance between twice-divorced American woman, Lily McHenry and charismatic and never-before-married Englishman, Charles Wickham.
But suspicions soon arise when during a visit to Lily's home in Monterey, California, Charles never talks of Lily visiting him in Vancouver. Whenever she hints he changes the subject. And therein lies the rub; if he's not married, not gay or bi then what is he? Who is he? Ill, perhaps. Or dying, even. Maybe a hoarder. Or just another lying jerk. Gripped by love and aching curiosity, Lily and her friend, Vera, devise a plan that sends Lily on a life-changing adventure. Lily makes a self-discovery as she courageously uncovers Charles's secret.
is the writer/producer/actress of her 3rd short
film, THE RIGHT REGRETS. Her claim to fame is that she was Elvis Presley's leading lady in his next to last film, THE TROUBLE WITH GIRLS.
The film is directed by Ralph Senensky, a member of the Directors Guild of America since 1961. He has known Marlyn Mason since 1954 when they were both involved in the Players Ring Theatre in Hollywood. Two and a half years ago Marlyn sent Ralph a copy of THE RIGHT REGRETS, a screenplay she had written. Ralph has been peripherally involved through the next two versions of the script as she rewrote it. A few months ago when Marlyn decided to film it on the west coast, she asked Ralph if he would direct it. With the inducement that we would film it right here on the Monterey Peninsula where he lives, Ralph said, "Yes".
Right Regrets is being filmed on the RED Epic on location in Monterey,
Why We Need Additional Funding
With over $28,000 previously committed to this project, we need the additional thousand dollars to complete the film through post-production and secondary photography.
We also need the funding to produce DVD and BluRay copies as well as festival fee payments.
Independent filmmaking and the arts in general provide an incredible impact on communities worldwide, and the impact spans generations.
Our crew spans four generations of filmmakers and demonstrates the common bond found among artists.
Other Ways You Can Help
I hope you’ll join us on this adventure. We want you to help us tell a story about that spark that never seems to go out. Not when the heart is broken, not when the heart is old. A look, a word, a gesture can fan that little piece of heat into a hot and boiling thing that we call love.
Risks and challenges
The Right Regrets production team has had to tackle a variety of challenges. The economic downturn has hit local governments and communities extremely hard. Permits that were once given to independent not-for-profit artistic endeavors cannot be handed over without cost anymore.
The local markets offer goods and services at both market and inflated rates to small teams, and on-screen credit isn't as lucrative a perk as it once was to businesses.
Most importantly, 21st-century cynicism and pessimism runs rampant.
The Right Regrets overcomes these obstacles by sacrificing where it hits home the most, off-setting the losses by shouldering the heightened financial burden by taking care of everything we could do on our own without launching a Kickstarter campaign; we are looking to finish the job we started.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
