Thank you for considering supporting One Duck Brewing Company, opening up soon in beautiful Squamish, British Columbia!
Here are the basics:
Kickstarter allows for people's dreams to become reality through crowd funding and support from people like you!
We have chosen the "all or nothing" option on Kickstarter- so if we don't reach our goal, we get nuthin' and your cards get charged nuthin'.
What is One Duck Brewing Company?
One Duck is a small craft brewery opening in Squamish. One Duck will begin with a production brewery with plans to quickly add a Tasting Room where visitors can hang out, sample the beer, and purchase beer to go. We will brew mostly belgian style beers as well as a few other styles. We will have styles to suit every type of beer drinker.
We will be purchasing all of our brewing ingredients from local suppliers as much as possible and hope to employ several people in the brewery in our first year of operation.
This small town is home to some of the most amazing views in the world. Growing up less than an hour away I was lucky to spend a lot of time in Squamish. Squamish is well known for hikes and rock climbing on The Chief, amazing fishing spots, windsurfing and kiteboarding, lakes, golf courses, and pretty much any outdoor activity you can imagine. Squamish is now home to a lot of young families, which is an ideal location to set up a brewery (and to raise our family).
Why The Name One Duck?
Owner/operator Jesse Paine: "I actually came up with the idea while on vacation in Nova Scotia. The name One Duck came up as a lone duck kept coming to visit us while we were fishing; and then I remembered visiting One Duck Lake in Whistler when I was younger. One Duck reminds me of where I grew up and all of the wonderful outdoor activities it has to offer. To me, the name represents a place of fun and adventure."
What Will The Money Be Used For?
We have found some amazing gently used equipment, but purchasing it wasn't cheap. We will be using the money raised on Kickstarter to build a great and inviting taproom, complete with tables, chairs, beer taps, and bar stools. The money will also be used to create our bottle shop so people can take our awesome beer home with them.
American Pale Ale (APA): This beer has smooth, balanced hop flavours with hints of citrus and pine and an alcohol percentage of about 5%. This will be a very sociable beer that beer lovers of all kinds will enjoy.
Belgian Double: Deliciously rich in colour and flavour, the belgian double will have hints of dark stone fruit, figs, raisins, and a hint of caramel. Coming in at 9%abv, this is a great beer to share with friends.
Black IPA: A healthy dose of late addition hops give this beer a big blast of citrus aromas and the toasted malts provide flavours of coffee and bitter dark chocolate.
Flemish Red (sour beer): We have to be honest, this beer is not for everyone... BUT those who love this beer REALLY love it. Sour cherry flavours with a touch of oak- absolutely delicious
Belgian Wit: A nice light and citrusy wheat beer spiced with orange peel, coriander, chamomile, and black peppercorns. Perfect for hot summer days. 5%abv.
Belgian Tripel: A strong yet smooth bright gold ale weighing in at 9%abv. The balance between sweet and spicy hides the alcohol quite well, making this a great sipper.
We will also feature seasonal beers, and as our brewery expands we will add more permanent beers to our menu.
We have some pretty cool logo ideas and names- but we don't want to give away all the fun already!
Now time to check out....
There you have it! Now that you know a whole bunch about ODB we hope you feel comfortable and confident in supporting us. We truly appreciate all of the support and can't wait to share our progress with all of you! Cheers!
Risks and challenges
Challenges: We are yet to brew our first batch under the One Duck label, and we have already encountered a number of challenges. There will be a challenge with time restraints while waiting for government licensing. There may also be challenges with keeping up with demand using a small brewing system-- but don't worry, we have plans to upgrade ASAP!
Beginning any business has its risks, but I can say with total confidence that One Duck Brewery will be successful. Myself and my family have already moved from Ontario to Whistler to get this process kickstarted. Along with a moving truck carrying boxes and boxes of our things we just got off a plane with our 1.5 year old daughter; along with our dog and our cat at our feet. After that journey we are definitely going to be selling our beer!
The only real risk is that aliens invade Earth and take away our love of beer!
