Hello friends, future friends and loved ones.
I'm currently making my first feature film and I need your help. It's a drama/romance about a globetrotting couple living and traveling through Japan, Taiwan, Germany and eventually the woods.
If you want to get a feel for the film and the characters, I made a short film that acts like a prologue to Kids Go Free to Fun Fun Time. You can check out the award winning short film here. http://www.vimeo.com/4252107
To make Kids Go Free to Fun Fun Time I have decided to live in each country and work (teaching English) so I can represent each county and culture respectfully and truthfully. To date, I have lived in Tokyo for over 2 years now. We have completed shooting the Japan portion of the film (on super 16mm) with our mighty cast and crew of six people. Our guerrilla shoot took place all over some tucked away places in Tokyo over the course of a month. This enabled us to work at a relaxed and creative pace where we weren't compromising too much, could change things on the fly and create something we are all proud of. Currently I am in the process of moving to a small beach town in Taiwan to begin the next leg of this beast of a film.
Japanese people who have read the film are excited and said that it felt very real, something different from the Tokyo we see in every American film. I would like to show it to you all and let you be the judge but the thing is, I'm completely out of money and don't have enough to transfer the film (take what is on the film negative and put it on a digital format so we can finally see it and edit it).
So I'm asking all of you out there for help. The budget for this film is $85,000 but our first step is trying to raise $5,000. If this goal is reached it would give us the opportunity to transfer the film as well as get our website up and running.
Once the film is transferred we will then edit a teaser trailer and possibly scenes from the film and blast it all over the internet in hopes of raising funds for the Taiwan portion of the film. So raising this money is a crucial step in helping get the ball rolling. This money will also go towards helping get our website for the film up. Once our kickstarter campaign has ended we will do the same fundraising drive on our site until the film is completed. We're going to do this in hopes of raising the full $85,000. This is an ambitious goal but we believe that if we can show that this model can work, it could help shine a light on this beautifully growing trend where fans, not large studios, are the ones deciding what is worth getting funded, getting made and sharing with the rest of the world.
Thanks for your time, love and support.
