Vincent the Vampire: An Indie Point and Click Adventure Game
Can a lowly office clerk point and click his way to save the world from Cyborgs, Vampires, Werewolves and Lawyers... the answer is yes.
We are going to make a classic Point and Click Adventure Game heavily inspired by games like Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango and Full Throttle, with a truly original story, engaging and quirky characters and a darker delivery like 'I have no mouth and I must scream'. The game will feature more adult themes as compared to some other games in the genre but will still maintain a sense of humour and poke fun at some established clichés in vampire movies and games. We will also be playing with the genre a bit and trying some new things to try and push adventure games forward.
The game will feature puzzles that have more than one solution to improve game and story flow, also there will be side quests with insanely hard puzzles for the hardcore adventure fans! In addition we will be making a series of short adventures where you play parts of the game from the perspective of NPCs!
Not only that but we are going to make a second game after the first one is finished that will follow a detective who is trying to solve a murder and finds himself following in the wake of Vincent's Adventure, so you will see the consequences of your actions from the first game!
In addition we will be creating a Point and Click Adventure Video Tutorial Series along side the game, to teach you how to make your own adventure games without the need for any programming.
Vincent the Vampire is a game set on a lost island in an ancient decrepit city. The inhabitants of the island mostly consist of Vampires, Werewolves and Cyborgs, but other inhabitants include cultists, a monk reincarnated as a pot plant, and psychotic 80s super computer, lawyers, ghosts, thieves, vacationing demons, the Underlord, Death and many more...
Vincent is an office clerk for the largest corporation on the island, he had been doing the same job for 7 years (photocopier technician) until suddenly one day Vincent realises that his job and life are pointless in a moment of pure clarity. He leaves his job and for the first time he starts to explore the island where he lives, but his exploration is cut short when he is brutally murdered. He is understandably surprised to wake up the next day to discover he is undead.
Vincent is then reluctantly dragged into the underground culture of the undead and then gets stuck having to save the world from an ancient war, because nobody else can be bothered.
Throughout the game he will learn to control his new vampire powers such as hypnotism, the ability to talk to plants and transmogrification.
Vincent the Vampire is going to be darker than a lot of other Point and Click Adventure Games including themes like murder, war, regret and depression, but it will still have a fun sense of humour in the form of a war ended by sentient 3D Printers, a bipolar 80's super computer, a murderous chicken hitman, weird cults, and much more.
Something that sets Vincent the Vampire apart from other adventure games is the inclusion of multiple ways to solve puzzles. It is easy to get stuck in Adventure Games so we will make multiple solutions to puzzles we include in the game.
Also, for the true completionist, we are going to include Side Quests for each of the NPCs, so aside from the main game there will be plenty to explore and discover about the world Vincent lives in.
Vincent the Vampire will also feature unique art, so lets talk about the art.
The game will feature the art of two amazing independent artists Emerson Ward and Anthea Wright
The Art of Anthea Wright
Anthea Wright is a full time freelance concept artist and illustrator from Australia. Anthea combines traditional painting and sketching techniques with what the digital environment has to offer. Anthea is also an Adventure Game fan, even spending her spare time working on fan art for games like Monkey Island and Zelda.
Anthea will be designing and hand drawing all the characters in the game and will bring her unique style to the mix.
The Art of Emerson Ward
Emerson Ward is an independent fantasy artist from Australia. Emerson's specialty is fantasy imagery, dragons, maidens, vampires, knights and things of a similar nature.
He also creates sci-fi and dark mechanical works. He creates his work in a more realistic, detailed style and really enjoys putting attention and detail into his creations.
Emerson will be creating the backgrounds for Vincent the Vampire, his darker style will add the more Gothic and dark ambiance of the game.
The music for the game will be composed and by Andrew Assels who uses acoustic instruments and digital software to compose atmospheric and stunningly simple yet greatly textured music.
The music will be composed along side the game and will be specifically tailored to augment the feeling of the characters and the world.
***This music is best experienced through headphones***

This is a question that we will answer in extreme detail in our video Tutorial "Pointing and Clicking: How to Make an Adventure Game without Programming".
The majority of our funding will be spent on art for our characters and backgrounds to give the game a really original look and feel but the majority of people working on the game are doing so for free as we are all very passionate about the story and we really believe this is going to be an amazing game. Also we will be using free development software like unity to save time and money on engine development.
Here is a breakdown of our budget:
- Art and Animation: we will be commissioning two professional artists to create quirky Characters and visually stunning backgrounds , We'll make awesome character animations for all the cut scenes and character interactions.
- Software: We'll be getting some professional software for music, animation, development and also publishing licences for the software we already have.
- A small amout is allocated to Kickstarter Fees and Taxes .
Finally, games take time to make so we are funding 8 months of development for our team to work on the game.
Point and Click Adventure games have long been lost to the seas of time, however in recent years interest in the Point and Click Adventure genre has been increasing, and yet this is not reflected in the amount of games being produced. Point and Click Adventures are among the best types of games to tell engaging meaningful and often funny stories and yet publishers still don't see them as profitable, and so many amazing stories are left untold due to lack of funding. But you can change that here and now.
This is a unique opportunity to not only be part of making an amazing game happen but also to learn about how to make your own Point and Click Adventure Games and see what it's like to be an indie game developer working for a small company. By supporting this project, you'll be helping a new startup company start making a series of amazing point and click adventure games and could also lead to you making your own kickstarter!
Also we will be "Kicking It Forward", after we have released the game 5% of the games profits once it has been released for sale to the public will go towards other people's kickstarter projects in the future! Read more about 'Kicking it Forward' here: http://kickingitforward.org

You may wonder why we don't offer any physical rewards, while it is nice to receive a game box or a plush toy, it would drive the price of the project up a lot, we'd probably need another 8 - 10k to produce something high quality and worth while, also creating physical rewards will take time away from the game. So we have decided to put all our energy into the game.
In the tutorial series you will learn how you can make your own Point and Click Adventure Game without the need for any prior knowledge of programs or coding. You will learn how to animate characters, write puzzles, you'll learn how to use available tools to create inventories, conversations, cutscenes, input voice acting into your game. The only thing we won't tell you is what kind of adventure game to make, you'll be able to make anything! We will also keep video diaries so you can see what it's like to be an indie games developer working for a new startup company.
LET'S GET OPTIMISTIC! $30,000 is the minimum we need to make the game. But if we get more we will get stretchy;
$35,000: We'll add more Side Quests, Full Screen Logic Puzzles, More Character Animations, More Characters and Expanded Puzzles.
$40,000: We'll add an unlockable Hardcore Mode with insane monkey wrench puzzles for the true puzzle fanatic.
$45,000: We'll convert, optimise and publish the game to mobile devices including iOS and Android, and maybe even Ouya.
$60,000: We'll make a sequel as soon as we finish the first game, so everyone will get 2 games. You'd better get all your friends and enemies to contribute if you want this one! (The second game will be released 8 months after the original)
This project is for anyone who loves classic point and click adventure games and thinks there should be more of them, anyone who likes dark themes in their adventure games and anyone who has dreamed of quitting their job and starting an indie games studio. Helping us will help us help you. We'll make you something memorable and you'll become part of a company dedicated to making awesome adventure games to help bring the genre back.
Risks and challenges
We will be working on this game full time and it will be finished within 6 months, however sometimes things can take longer than expected especially as we are working with external artists who have other commitments which is why we have allowed 8 months for production to compensate for anything that may arise. This is a low risk game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
