The Deltaz have been our lives for as long as we can remember. Making music is not only our passion and career, its become our identity. For the last couple years gigging four nights a week and touring the country has become our way of life. We have learned so much as we’ve toured and recorded our last three albums DIY. All these experiences have culminated in our new album “Barrelhouse Boys!” Now, with your help, we can release this new album as soon as May 2018!
We were so proud of the release of our last album “Like Your Brother” in 2016. But we learned that funding the production of an album entirely on our own had some major set backs. The most challenging affect was that it delayed the release of our album. "Like Your Brother" took four years to make with us scrapping together the budget. Secondly, it limited the choice of release mediums we could have available for our listeners. (i.e. No Vinyl!)
This summer we’re setting out on our most ambitious tour yet! We’re taking off to play Europe for the first time in May/June 2018, then rolling out for an extensive tour of the US in July, August and September. We want to have "Barrelhouse Boys" finished in time to get it in the hands of people all over the world!
"Barrelhouse Boys" features 11 new Deltaz songs. We spent months writing several dozen new songs to get the best ones! Like our previous albums, we are recording all this new music entirely at our home studio in the mountains of southern California. We have been working closely with veteran producer Tommy Hilton and a group of our favorite Los Angeles musicians to bring you an album showcasing our favorite Roots Rock/Americana influences in a live tracked album we’re proud to release.
When mastering the early cuts for this album at legendary Capitol Records in Los Angeles, our friend & engineer, Ian, offered us a lacquer test pressing from a vintage lathe that pressed originals for The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac among other classic bands. When we took this single of “Barrelhouse Boy” home it was really special putting a record with our music on the turntable we had listened to all of our favorite records over the years. The second the needle dropped on "Barrelhouse Boy" we both knew this was how our music should be heard!
We are most excited that "Barrelhouse Boys" will be the first Deltaz album pressed on vinyl! For years on the road and at home people have asked us “When can I get your album on vinyl!?” The cost of producing vinyl has always deterred us from being able to offer it to our fans. But this Kickstarter will not only allow us to press vinyl, it will give you the opportunity to be the first to get a Deltaz vinyl album!
What we’ll use the Kickstarter funds for:
- Pressing Costs CD: $1,300.00
- Pressing Costs Vinyl: $2,100.00
- Mastering at Capitol Records Los Angeles, CA: $700.00
- Artwork, Photography and Design: $300.00
- Hiring musicians and studio engineers: $600.00.
We’ve come up with some rewards for this project we felt our Deltaz fans and friends would all enjoy. We’re looking forward to fulfilling all of the album pre-orders we receive in this Kickstarter. And we can’t wait to give some harmonica/guitar lessons, private Deltaz performances, record some personalized songs or maybe even have a BBQ!
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our Kickstarter page and we are so grateful for your support in the making of our new album "Barrelhouse Boys"!

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk and challenge for "Barrelhouse Boys" is our timeline for completion. We are embarking on our most ambitious tour ever, four months both international and domestic, starting on May 15, 2018. To have our album completed by then we will have to work every day to make the production deadlines and have finished "Barrelhouse Boys" albums.
We plan to do the majority of the recording, mixing, production ourselves along with coordinating the artwork and mastering. Luckily, we have a team of talented engineers and our producer Tommy Hilton to help us complete this project. We learned during the recording of our last three albums how to use our time effectively in the studio and how to come up with a good finished product on a tight deadline.
Pressing vinyl for the first time will be a challenge for us. Its a time consuming and expensive process. It requires special mastering of the audio just for vinyl and adapting our artwork for a vinyl album sleeve. We have already selected a pressing manufacturer who will be working with us to make sure the vinyl is everything it should be for our Deltaz listeners.
There are a lot of moving parts to handle on our own but we’ve never let hard work get in the way of making the music we want to make for you. We know that when "Barrelhouse Boys"" is done and you spin that vinyl on the turntable at home, we’ll be proud of the work we’ve created together.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
