About

Ranmai is a turn based card game for two players set in the Sengoku Period. It's played on a game board which is separated into 5 lanes. Cards are placed within those lanes and move only straigt forward. Both players will try to fight their way along the lanes, trying to reach the guards of the opposite's daimyo and defeat them. Each card on the board can make one attack per turn if it is in range of an enemy. For an attack you reduce the life points of the attacked card by the attack points of the attacking card. A card that is defeated drops out of the game and the card that attacked moves onto the empty field. If there are life points left after an attack the remaining life points will be marked on the card.

Further rules

So this is basically how the game works. But there are some other rules. First take a look at a card to see how it's build. The color of the card shows you which type of warrior this card is. The life bars next to the picture help you count the remaining life during the game. The attack points tell you how many damage an attack causes and the health points tell you how much life a card has before it is defeated. Some cards has special skills that make the game more interesting. The rank give's you an impression how strong the card is.

Attack directions

Normally you attack the card that is straight in front of your card. But as you can see on the card above it's possible to attack in different directions. The little black circle shows your position. The white crosses show which fields you can attack. So this card could attack the card to the left and right, the card in front and the cards besides the card in front of your card. Here are two examples.

Switching cards

Every turn you can switch two cards that lay next to each other.

Risks and challenges

So this is it. You finally made it to the end. And I finally finished the game. This game has been a challenge to me. Now it feels like tons of weight I was carrying with me fell off. I'm glad I made this game and hope you guys like it.
But even if the game is finished there is always a chance that something doesn't work out. I will be overlooking it to correct mistakes or see if I can improve any of the components until the production starts. Hopefully the shipping will already begin in December this year if everything goes as planned. I'm confident.
