A1 is the next generation fused filament fabrication 3D printer. Designed to blend in at your home or work place and to meet the need of a fast, accurate and quiet 3D printer. With its minimalist design, A1 gives you a great insight to the printing chamber and a quick access to swap your extruder for other nozzle sizes.
Relying on newly patented technique and design with modular thinking, A1 is built to last and is ready for expansion with dual extruders for multi-material or a full enclosure for more technical materials.
Cut by laser and powder coated, A1 goes for high precision and quality. All of the electronics, stepper motors and the controller board are mounted in a unique back part, having an effective circulation of cool air for a stable performance.
NEW GANTRY DESIGN FOR FAST PRINTING
Relying on the new gantry and extruder design with an extremely lightweight and rigid construction, together with a 32 bit ARM processor for fast calculations, A1 allows you to play around with the travel speed up to 300 mm/s.
The lightweight gantry is also able to handle a 90 mm/s print speed and a 6000 mm/s2 (second squared) acceleration. This is twice the speed and a four times higher acceleration than most common brands, making A1 a real time saver - especially when you print many components with a complex pattern.
Below, you can se different settings visualized and what impact the new gantry system has on the print time.
DUAL GEARED FEEDER FOR RELIABLE FEEDING
To keep up with the printing speed, A1 is equipped with a dual gear feeder. These two geared wheels push the filament for a reliable feeding. A quick release button on the side enables you to quickly swap for other filaments.
The lightweight gantry system also makes A1 print quietly. The noise level is comparable to a modern dishwasher or a low conversation (50 DBA). This solution makes A1 super friendly to your home or work space.
SWAPPABLE HOTEND FOR ENHANCED WORKFLOW
A lot of iterations and testing was made to find a fast way to swap the hotend on A1 and on keeping the head lightweight and space efficient for maximum printing area. The hotend is based on widely used parts. This solution makes it a breeze for you to swap for another nozzle size, or maintain the hotend.
INTEGRATED FANS TO COOL YOUR COMPLEX MODELS
A1 is also an ideal for experimenting with different complex models. Equipped with two integrated fans in the compact print head, A1 effectively cools of the hot filament and enables you to print details and overhangs.
EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT FILAMENTS
Feel free to use any popular filament on the market with a diameter of 1.75 mm. A1 has been tested with the most common materials, such as PLA, Soft PLA, PBS, ABS and TPU with success. There is a lot more materials to experiment with, and we will frequently update the web site with new printing profiles for the most requested materials.
OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE
A1 is compatible with a range of open source software, such as CURA, SLIC3R, Simplify 3D, for easy slicing and producing of G-code.
And you don't have to be an expert, the company will provide settings for the most frequently used slicer software and materials.
DOWNLOAD OR DESIGN YOUR MODEL
Download a STL model from a website, for example: http://www.grabcad.com, http://www.thingiverse.com or http://www.youmagine.com
Or design your model in for example: sketchup, freecad or blender, save as STL.
Open your STL file in the preferred slicer software. Load the provided settings from our website into the slicer software. Save and transfer the printer trough Wi-Fi or USB and hit the print button.
A website will be available soon with profiles for different materials to download, as well as tips and tricks for different softwares.
We now have a fully functional A1 prototype at hand, as described above. With your help and support, we can go from sample orders to bigger batch orders of electronics and mechanical components and get quantity discount. Set up for a laser cut production, powder coating and being able to invest in injection molding for a few parts.
READY FOR EXPANSION
To stay on track with the timeline and keep the initial production cost down, A1 is prioritized and will be delivered to you in a first step. If you are interested in a A2 dual extruder lift system or a A3 HEPA enclosure system support the development and get notified when it is ready and you will be able to buy it first to a reduced price.
A2, DUAL EXTRUDER LIFT SYSTEM
Although A1 has a universal metal plate to fit probably most of the dual extruders on the market, we have a lightweight dual extruder system under development that will lift the nozzle a little bit. This will eliminate the risk of collision with the print model when it is not in use.
A3, HEPA ENCLOSURE SYSTEM
A1 is designed to fit an enclosure system. Consisting of a top cover, a front door and a HEPA filter. This solution will let you control the environment inside the A1 and you will be able to print more technical materials.
THE FINAL A1
The final A1 will be equipped with detachable plexiglass panels on each side. Improvements have also been made on the building plate with clips and the extruder head to hide away the fan cables.
