Hi! I'm Don Mammoser, a professional travel, nature and wildlife photographer living in Colorado, USA. Beginning in late 2010, I left my home in the USA and went traveling non-stop for 21-months with a Russian girl I'd just met named Anya. I'm working on a book about this journey.
This book will present our story through incredibly beautiful images and wonderful, descriptive prose. This story is one part romance, two parts adventure and all completely true. Anya and I met randomly over the internet, started traveling together, and ended up going all over the world on a non-stop independent journey that took us to 23 countries and lasted for 21 months.
I'm here to ask you to help take this book project from idea to reality. The book is called "A Photographer's Eye & A Traveler's Heart", and it is truly something very special.
During our 21 month journey we both kept daily journals and as a professional photographer, I took many thousands of images. While traveling we saw some of the endless beauty of the world and we experienced the limitless kindness of strangers wherever we went. Now we are taking the best of our travel stories and my most beautiful images and putting them together into this large-format, coffee-table book.
This book will show and tell our unique story and by using almost 200 of my professional images in the book, I strive to put the places we experienced into a very positive light. I hope our story and this book will inspire others to 'cast off the bow lines' and take their own journey of discovery.
I have 16 years of professional photography and publishing experience under my belt and I'm constantly using that expertise to capture beautiful travel images of the incredible places we get to experience. Our story and a very small sample of the images I captured during our travels were published in the November 2014 issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine.
You can click either this cover image or the opening spread image to read the online version of my article.
I expect to be finished with the layout of the book by August and will be taking the book to press in September. That's where you come in. I'm seeking funds to cover the printing cost. 1,000 copies of the book will be printed in hardcover with approximately 148 glossy, high quality pages.
Each spread features a full-page image or images, and then on the facing page or pages, either an inspirational, humorous, or descriptive set of prose relating to that image or images. There are also several double-page spreads with panoramic images where the beauty of the scene speaks for itself.
By backing this project, you'll help me combine two things - travel and photography - which I'm very passionate about, into a concrete project that inspires, entertains and delights. You'll also be gaining something wonderful for yourself!
Over on the right side of this page are a list of the items and experiences I'm offering for your support. Each pledge level gives you excellent value. In each case the retail value of your reward exceeds the amount you pledge to receive it.
If you can't pledge, I completely understand, but perhaps you can share this project with your friends and family, and with your social networks on Facebook and Twitter. The more people who know about my project, the better chance it has of succeeding.
I can't wait to produce this book of images and stories for you!

Risks and challenges
Most of my story writing is finished but I plan to hire a professional editor to go through everything. All of the photos are of course taken and in my possession and organized. I expect to be able to complete the writing and editing by the end of August in order to print in September. The main risk is that the editing of my writing might take longer than expected. If that happens (I doubt it will) the project delivery might slip; but only by a month or two.
I know that the project will be completed and delivered. I have the experience and the time to assure you that I will make this book happen. I have already written and photographed 2 other books, put out by major publishing houses.
I look forward to shipping a backer reward to you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
