Blacksite Brewery was started as a way to make excellent craft beer with a purpose: give veterans skills as entrepreneurs and give back to the veteran community.
Blacksite answers a critical need: a local brewery in a military community that supports veterans employment and veterans organizations.
Blacksite Brewing LLC believes that life is too short to drink cheap beer. We believe in making a quality beer out of excellent ingredients. While product and profit are important, and in fact the reason for the business, personal values are imperative. Blacksite Brewing LLC not only believes in, but strives for Loyalty, Integrity, Honor, and Selfless Service.
Loyalty to our Employees, and vice versa. Loyalty to the Veteran community. Loyalty to the local community.
Integrity of our product, as well as our word.
Honor in our Craft and the way we do it.
Selfless Service to our Employees, as well as to the Veteran community.
By following our values, Blacksite Brewing LLC will operate in an environment that fosters an excellent workplace, an excellent product, and an excellent community.
Many craft beer bars in the San Antonio and Austin area, including World of Beer and Alamo Draft House, have agreed to put our beer on draft and even do launch parties and special beer dinners.
We're not a non-profit, but that doesn't mean we can share, support, and grow with organizations that do good.
Founded in 2014 by Matt Thibodeaux, Shaun Eaves, and Kevin Schmidt, the brewery utilizes traditional recipes as well as some more exotic and adventurous brews.
Matt joined the Army in 2008 and deployed with the Special Operations Joint Task Force to Afghanistan in 2013.
Shaun served in the US Army and was deployed to Kuwait in the 90s.
Risks and challenges
Blacksite has talked with TABC and is pending applications with the state. While no one can precisely predict the future, we don't foresee any major issues arising within the next 12 months.
After 12 months, our biggest challenge will be large scale production, for which we plan on renting brewery space if necessary in order to meet those requirements.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
