Deus Ex Machina is a short student video production in the thriller genre.
Currently in pre-production, our production would greatly benefit from your contribution. Any help, big or small, is appreciated and we have set up pledge levels to accommodate all types of sponsorship.
The funding will be used to make the most of this production. Our production team wants to be as creative as possible, which involves renting speciality equipment, such as a Jib-Arm mount. This production will be shot entirely outdoors, in cold New England weather. This involves taking super-extra care of our cast, crew and video equipment.
The look of this movie is to be as natural, raw and gritty as possible. There will be great use of natural lighting and muted colors. The muted colors will highlight the cold, dark New England landscape.
Synopsis: Deep in the forest, two hikers, a sister and her younger brother, are treading down a path in a cold, miserable New England landscape. Imagine their journey thus far: All that they’ve experienced. The cold weather. The harsh terrain . . . Imagine the tensions that have built between them. Pure evil approaches, announcing its presence through a horrid, mechanized thump that reverberates through the forest. A most unnatural noise for such an innate force. The hikers are separated. The sister Jill, searching frantically for her brother Jack, succumbs to the uneven ground, her ankle broken and trapped beneath a large rock. Immobilized, the evil comes for her. The thumps get louder and faster and closer. She holds a knife to her crippled limb, thinking it’s the only way out. Brother Jack nonchalantly strolls through the woods. He comes to the place where Jill was trapped, but she’s not there. The noise is back. Jacks carefree demeanor melts at the sound. Louder, faster, closer the sound is thunderous and deafening, when it reaches the crescendo-there’s silence. Screams! What becomes of the siblings? How will they ever fight a menacing force heard but unseen? Help fund the movie and find out!
