Update: Holy smokes! We love you all so much! If you could see us you would know that there are lots of screaming and happy hugs going on at Zeno right now. Thank you for believing in us.
Please please please- let's keep it going. All the money we raise over our goal is desperately needed to pay for post production, promotion, and travel for the Zeno gang. In fact, the total budget is $350k. (Movies are expensive!) Can you imagine how cool it would be to get this whole thing taken care of?! The point is, your pledge now is just as important to the success of the project as it ever has been. With continued support, we can finish the movie and reach the widest audience. Thank you thank you thank you!
PS: We have plenty of maple syrup up here in the woods, so don't worry, prizes are all still available!
We want to make a movie that can change the world. We want to make a movie that is a first of it's kind. It's going to be radical, funky and inspirational - for all the right reasons. Oh, and we are going to do it singing and dancing.
We want you to join us on this adventure.
We love musicals! Particularly musicals from the 70's and 80's like Grease, Dirty Dancing & Footloose (yeah, not technically musicals, but we love them anyway). Its time a new musical was made that celebrates the best in all of us.
All too often, disability is seen as something that needs to be overcome or worse, patronized. Our goal with THE HOMECOMING is to flip this script. We will make a movie that is fantastic BECAUSE of disability, not in spite of it. THE HOMECOMING is not a film about disability but we believe it is the disability film that needs to be made.
Beyond the entertainment value and immediate impact of THE HOMECOMING, we will be seeking the widest possible audience for the film. The success of BECOMING BULLETPROOF and it's two year run on Showtime, has helped us procure a massive, built in audience and many opportunities for distribution. It is exciting and has challenged us to think big!
People have been asking: Whats next for Zeno? We have made 14 movies, everything from a pirate adventure to a time travel film to of course, our western: BULLETPROOF. This time around, we have decided to take on the biggest challenge yet: The musical. It is by far our most ambitious project and we can't wait to get going and share it with all of you.
THE HOMECOMING is an original musical feature, containing 7 original songs written by the Zeno team. It will be shot on location in Lincoln and Bristol, Vermont in the Fall of 2017. Every aspect of the process, from writing to shooting to talent, is done with disabled and non-disabled talent together. Nothing about us without us!
THE HOMECOMING will be shot on an Alexa Mini and Cooke cinema lenses by DP Chris Westlund.
THE HOMECOMING is directed by Mike Randa and Lauren Smitelli and produced by Katie White.
The cast and crew will live together in Vermont at our home Zeno Mountain Farm for a month this Fall to produce and shoot.
To date, Act One is "in the can" and it looks beautiful. Check out our video for some behind the scenes and raw footage!
THE HOMECOMING is created by Zeno Mountain Farm as one. We work together for the sake of friendship and art.
We are shooting everything behind the scenes as 75 of us all live together and make this movie. The footage will be used as a "making of" special or possibly a stand alone TV series. The goal is to introduce people to a world they did not know exist and have them leave asking, "Why doesn't it?".
THE HOMECOMING will star all the Zeno crew and many new faces as well. Additionally, several of our celebrity friends have agreed to play cameos including, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kevin Kline, Phoebe Cates, Peter Sarsgaard, and others.
Money Money Money:
THE HOMECOMING will cost $350k. It is a tiny budget for a film this ambitious. We are able to pull this off because of the army of professionals and friends who are jumping on board to make it possible. No one is making money on the film. Any proceeds from the sale will go toward our next project. To date, we have raised $100k which has funded the first act of THE HOMECOMING.
Your support will pay for travel, food, equipment rentals, living expenses, and insurance. For a full budget breakdown, please contact us. We are happy to share all the details.
If we reach our goal, all donations will be fully tax deductible.
If this sounds awesome to you and you want to be involved with THE HOMECOMING in addition to supporting us (or instead of), we need your help! Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know as much as you can about yourself and how you would like to help. All help is welcome, regardless of experience in film. Check out our "needs" in the section below and jump on board!

Risks and challenges
If there is one thing we know how to do, it is making movies. Zeno has made a movie every year for the last 14. Your gift will not be wasted. If we exceed our fundraising goal, we will only be able to make THE HOMECOMING more awesome and reach more people.
The challenge of making a film under any circumstances can't be understated. It requires a LOT of hard work and a LOT of money. Our approach to both of these opportunities is to enroll you and all our friends in the project and movement.
We have two economies at Zeno: One is money and the other is enthusiasm. Both are critical and both involve you. If you trust us, we will create a product that is unlike any other. And you can say you were on board at the beginning.
We commit to you that we will stay in touch and be honest with our progress, challenges and needs. On the other side of this adventure, we will share the film far and wide and when we see you, please let us know you were part of this campaign. You hold a special place in our world and we want to hug you and thank you personally.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
