"Making Wearables More Wearable"
We believe in our motto so much that we named the company after we came up with it. While technology is shifting towards more wearable devices the accessory options that come with them are limited to color or style while remaining all the same. We wanted to build a company thats soul focus was creating accessories that enhance the experience and break the limitations of these upcoming devices.
What PALM Is
PALM is a case for the Apple Watch to allow one handed effortless operation of the display by using a minimalistic design and a forward thinking ring design to fit anyone with comfort. The case is thin so it stays close to the hand and rolls over your fingers effortlessly with hardly any practice. The casing also has a quick to release design so that its easy to get in and out for charging but won't fall out accidentally while doing more active tasks like running.
We wanted to change the way wearables are used for the better and get you the most out of your experience with them. Wearables are the future but we noticed a lot of issues with the current devices and use of them. Take the apple watch for example, you need to always have both hands free to use one device. Without a third hand you'r as limited as your device is making it useless. The Apple Watch is like the worlds smallest iPhone, and we want to use it like one! PALM literally unleashes the apple watch from your wrist and places it in thumbs reach to give you full access to any notification, question, call, or song skip, all truly one-handed.
Is PALM For You?
We hope so because we built it with you in mind! We made PALM with the goal to make the Apple Watch more wearable so that you can stay better connected to what matters most, when you need it most. PALM was designed to be there when you need it and out of the way when you don't no matter what your everyday looks like. We want PALM to be for the masses and with future designs we hope it can be even used in most job fields such as police or medical so that everyone can be better connected.
The Finished Product
Palm has been an idea, a proof of concept, and is now finished being prototyped. We have a few remaining design changes to make when we are able to manufacture such as the color, materials, minimal design enhancements and creating variable ring sizes. The finished design will not be in white but we did chose that color for the video to stand out from the watch and to better display how small it is.
How PALM Started
Hello my name is Tyler, I'm the founder of Wearmore and creator of the PALM Case. I can definitely say for sure it was made by accident, I was trying to hold the Apple Watch while laying down because my phone had died and being unable to sleep I just wanted to see what the Apple Watch could do. Unfortunately gravity thought it would be funny if the watch slipped and hit me in the face, intact it thought it would be so funny that I got hit twice! learning my lesson quickly, I tied the Apple Watch band around my fingers to hold it up. From there my right arm got tired so I began navigating the desplay with my thumb and thats when I realized how cool it would be to have a case that did this so it was like a mini iPhone, I searched for days to find such a case but it seemed I had a original idea so I got some miscellaneous parts and made my own. After using it for just a day I noticed a book of problems that PALM fixed for the usability of the Apple Watch. From that day on that it had to be more then just a hobby project, it needed to be the tool that paved the way for future wearable accessories to make everyones life as improved as it had mine. I made a few calls and with a bit of collaboration with some old peers PALM began to take shape.
PALM By Wearmore
PALM is our first of many products that will serve as the fuel to start up our company. At Wearmore we will focus on wearables and finding more solutions by creating additional one-of-a-kind accessories similar to PALM. This is just the beginning for us, we hope to create a second generation of PALM as we get feedback from uses to make it even better! After PALM we want to focus on other accessories such as Air Pods, Samsung devices, Future products similar to Google Glass and much more! With your help we can take PALM from our hands to yours, hire more hands, fund future ideas, and make wearables more wearable.
Moving Forward Together
As a Kickstarter campaign we know it's powered by a awesome community of backers like you focused on the same task together and so we want to be sure you understand what we are here for. This is far more than just a project for us, this is our chance to create a company thats focused on making your favorite products better. We also want to be sure to show our appreciation for supporting us, to do so we want to have a clear window policy so you see exactly how we are doing (road bumps and all) after the campaign is over! If you work together to help us pass our goal we will even openly post updates on what we plan to do with those extra funds so you know your a part of something bigger!
We see a lot of other Kickstarters asking for numbers closer to 30k-50k and they do this because they know thats the minimal they need to start production. Unfortunetly unforeseen events can and do happen, many projects are unable to deliver because they didn't have the funds to overcome the difficulties they come across. We ask for the 100K not to be greedy but to be 100% that PALM is all or nothing, if we say we are going to deliver then we will deliver. Speaking of delivering, we also asked for this much because we are covering the shipping cost on most orders!
Goals VS Stretch Goals
We want to be completely open with you, 100K is our goal because thats the minimal amount needed to safely Start and Finish production to get out all these orders without the risk of going bankrupt in the process of our launch. Our stretch goals are to hit above 100% funding and its not just because it would be awesome (but it would be awesome).
As we reach further above goal, we have more working capital for inventory, a website (something we really need your help to get), hire more hands, make product improvements, get into our own facility to have working space, pay our helping hands, and much more. If we do pass our goal we want you to see what we can get done when we work together, so we will add more details here of what we plan to do with the extra funds as they come!
Risks and challenges
The largest challenge we had to face was that our fingers are not the same size! To overcome this we are working to redesign the ring itself so that we can ship out a number of ring sizes per box to be sure each user can feel what fits best.
Another challenge is taking on a upcoming market that has yet to solidify. As an example, as soon as PALM was nearly finished Apple announced the 3rd Generation of Apple Watches with slight demention changes thats forced us to have a major delay and work on design changes (Not to worry, we have a plan for that!)
The last issue we have to face is being sure to Under promise and Over deliver because this market is still so new. We have no way to know if PALM will be a bust or if it will be as popular as we hope until you the backers tell us! IT COULD possibly take the market by storm for all we know! Because of this uncertainty it does make it difficult to properly estimate total startup costs so we decided to double our budget. With your support we can watch live everyday to get better estimates of how many units will need being made and actively plan for after the campaign finishes. Our goal at $100k might seem higher then some projects, but we chose this amount to be sure PALM would be as popular as we hope so we know it will be worth manufacturing as well as also to give us enough capital so that a unforseen expence doesn't bankrupt us before we even get to ship product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
