“Nairobi on Wheels” is a project about empowering Kenyan street children through skateboarding. 4 Danish skateboarders, including one filmer and one photographer, venture to Kenya for two weeks of cultural exchange and storytelling. Our trip will result in a number of articles and video productions. The aim is to support the local skateboarding scene, educate the Danish youth on Kenya, raise awareness of global poverty and support the local NGO Skate-aid in their work with the youth at risk in the slums of Nairobi.
For our project to come to fruition and to support the children in need as quickly as possible, we've personally emptied our pockets to come up with the necessary funding. To be able to continue our work, we hope for your financial support to cover our travel expenses.
We want this only to be the beginning. Currently we strive to bring the Kenyans to Denmark, help the street kids find homes and education and be able to continue empowering people and places in need though skateboarding.
Risks and challenges
Being in Nairobi on this journey has had a deep impact on us. We're privileged with our developed society and safe, smooth places to skateboard and to live and enjoy our lives. We promise you as a backer that we'll stay highly invested in this project for days and months to come. Denmark and Kenya might be thousands of miles apart, but we are continuously in touch with the locals and their scene.
Having already taken big personal risks and investments to make this initial effort of passion, we are aware that a lot of our material is already produced. Now we are hoping for your support to continue empowering the locals in Kenya and bring attention to skateboarding as a vehicle for growth in places where it's needed. We promise full transparency and a short response time to any questions you might have. Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
