It is currently a time of peace in Esras, but not everything is as tranquil as it first looks. In the capital city of Gaia, more and more frays appear in the slums and alleyways. Although not everyone can agree on everything, one thing they can all agree upon are the problems present.
Our protagonist, Azzedar, is aware of this; as one of the commanders of Gaia's castle, he knows of much danger in his life. When he set out for a neighboring country, he hadn't expected that stray words would result in rumors about his secret mission. Soon many people are interested in him. Treasure hunters, bandits, swindlers, to say the least. Just what kind of mission was entrusted to him? Something so secret that not even his companion, Miza, could know about it.
Questions begin to arise regarding their journey. Would they be able to reach their destination safely, or were there those that would give them struggles? Would they be able to count on the help of others if things proved too difficult? Would things get so bad they would have to abandon their goal? And as if there weren't enough concerns on their mind, does a strange soul from their past follow in their shadows? Azzedar soon realizes that not only would they have to face these problems, but even his own inner demons.
Esras is a medieval-fantasy world, spread across four realms:
He is a military officer, having followed a long path to achieve his current rank. In the beginning, he was a gladiator enslaved by the dark elves after they destroyed his home. Despite many difficulties, he survived years of brutal servitude, eventually catching the eye of his superiors. Thinking his talents were being wasted, they started training him as an elite soldier. Though this same training eventually allowed him to earn his freedom, it came at a heavy price to himself. Years of hardship had molded the once-kind person into an unstoppable barbaric beast. The pain inflicted upon him had made him unfeeling, willing to do whatever was necessary for survival. It didn't help that his half-elf, half-human lineage made him an outcast in both worlds.
As time went by, influences from the world he explored shaped him once more. Realizing that not all in the world was dark and uncaring, he set out to make himself into the good man he once was. Fate, however, had other plans for him. Tried as he might, the pain and suffering of his past had left scars on his psyche, manifesting in a “demon” within him that was at odds with his natural self. This dark side of Azzedar threw his life out of balance, scaring away his lover and sending him spiraling into depression.
Even when things were at their worst, life would once again prove that where there was darkness, light would soon follow. During his travels Azzedar met Miza. Her kindness brought laughter and joy into his soul once again. In return for her kindness, Azzedar taught her how to fight. In time, the two became close partners that knew they could count on one another. Many years were spent at at the others' side until their ways parted..
Azzedar became involved in Esras when he decided to help a team of soldiers, who had lost their leader in an earlier battle, protect their citizens. For his bravery, he was given a chance to serve in their army. For the first time as he could recall in his life, Azzedar had found a place to call home. Even with a home, nobody is aware of the dark secrets buried within him that continue to give him nightmares. Is it his past returning to haunt him? Something in his life yet unfulfilled? Or could it simply be his loneliness?
Ookamiza Caelum, known better as simply Miza, is a descendant to a long line of magicians. Her lineage and hidden skills came to light in her childhood, but only because her mother wished to leave behind the world of dark magic. Due to her treason, Miza's mother was executed in brutal fashion by dark magicians. Miza's father fell into a deep depression as a result.
After her mother's death, Miza found her four brothers to be her only support. She developed a reputation to others for being a mischief maker and difficult to work with, but inside she tried to remain optimistic, in time learning about her father's plight. As she learned more about past, her abilities began to evolve. However, magic was forbidden in her lands, so in time she joined with a wandering magician who not only helped her to explore her shape-shifting abilities, but taught her much about life itself. Miza matured greatly under her mentor's tutelage and later on continued her studies at a mage school. Time passed and longing to meet with her master once more, she left the school behind, but was unable to locate him. Her travels took her through several countries until an unpleasant event lead to her accidentally meeting Azzedar. From the first moments they met, the man displayed sympathy to her, realizing both had suffered personal losses early on in their lives. The two traversed through many lands, overcoming hardships together, until the time came for them to go separate ways.
After she was alone again, Miza came to know a little more about her magician ancestors. She started to blame them and her lineage for causing troubles within her life. This began a dark time in her life, caring only for herself and living to get revenge on her own past. Her endeavors only resulted in chaos and she was forced to hide from the trouble she had caused. It dawned on her that she had to make right what had gone wrong in her life. Her travels brought her to Realm Mist, where she was granted the chance to act as their emissary in return for several favors. As part of this work, she found herself involved in the competitions held annually in Gaia, first as a participant and later as a judge. Questions remained on her mind; had her close relationship to Azzedar changed over time? What would develop as a result of them crossing paths once more?
I am working on a fantasy comic book called “World of Esras”. It tells the story of a lonely half-elf warrior who, although he has found a place in life, is still haunted by nightmares of his past. The book is almost finished and I would like to publish it in physical format. This is where I need your help. You can help me the following ways:
- Please share this page with others who might be interested in this fantasy story.
- Support me and the comic book by a one time pledge to this campaign. What you will get in return depends on your contribution. You can see all the rewards on the right side of the page.
Please choose whichever you like!
If you have any questions about the comic book or the campaign, please let me know!
The goal is 600 Euros, which would be enough to cover print-house costs. If this campaign doesn't reach the goal, you will get a refund.
- Ritusss - She has helped me during this project, including collaborating on the cover art, offering rewards, and for allowing the use of her character Miza in the story. Thank you! Her site: http://ritusss.deviantart.com/
- Vidagr - He helped me with concept arts and designs, as well as making the panels for the comic. http://vidagr.deviantart.com/
- Iast - Thank you for proof-reading! http://iastsa.deviantart.com/
As Stan Lee said: "Comics are like boobs. They look great on a computer, but I'd rather hold one in my hand..."
I'm sure that many of you have the same opinion, and I'm sure some of you have had a project similar to this one. Those of you that have may know that working with a printing company isn't very cheap, especially if you're having your work printed in small quanitites. Here is how the costs for my book break down:
Originally I wanted to find a publisher & supporters through mangamagazine.net (inkblazers.com), but the site was shut down. Since I have worked for some time on my own comic, I would like to make it a reality. Several difficulties have occurred in my life, so as a result I can only deliver for the time being a shorter story due to the increased printing cost of additional pages.
I've tried to provide what I believe is a fair price for my project, so that you get an enjoyable story worth your money while at the same time bringing to life a project that wouldn't be possible without your support. Besides supporting my project, you'll also get extra goodies for your generosity.
The first 20 customers will get a sticker of one of these super cute illustrations (this isn't the full set of them). This bonus is only offered for pledges €7 and up, so make sure you support one of those tiers if you want this bonus.
- 700 Euros goal reached – Extra sexy illustrations of the characters will be added to the comic book
- 850 Euros goal reached – Everyone who pledges €7 and up will receive a badge of the characters as a bonus.
1000 Euros goal reached – Everyone who pledges €7 and up will receive a “thank you” card along with a bookmark.

A prologue to World of Esras, it shows a glimpse into Azzedar's past. Many secrets abound in his past when he first arrives in Esras. Even with those ominous words, the story itself is enjoyable with some funny moments, along with a little bit of hanky-panky.

I've been working as a freelance illustrator. Among my past projects include working with BigFoot Games as an illustrator for their board game PAZIC, as a colorist alongside Calvin Nye (Joe Hero comic) and Alex Johnson (GN - Lab of the dead), and creating playing cards and drawing figures for game developers. I've also self-published books, mostly black & white comics.
- World of Frames comic book anthology (2008-2013)
- The Light of the Land comic book (2013)
My work was published in:
World of Esras was developed almost completely on my own in my free time. It is by far my biggest project and I have had to overcome many projects while working on it. Not only the creative issues many artists face, but financial ones as well. As a freelancer, my income has been rather limited. Despite those issues, I've still worked hard on my project. I made it in Photoshop CS2 and IllustStudio, using my Wacom Graphire4 tablet; almost 8 years old, and while a newer tablet would assist my work greatly, my primary concern is successfully printing my book. My main focus with all the stories I've worked on is to give them a clear message and to have everything about them, including the environment and various features, fit naturally to the type of world and era the story is set in. To help with my vision, I watched knight tournaments, visited old castles and read books related to my subjects. I would like to continue these studies and use them to develop more concepts of my world, including other creatures, structures, clothing & fashions, and other characters. While developing my world is important, my main focus has always been on developing realistic and relatable characters. I hope all this hard work results in you enjoying my theme and style!

Risks and challenges
As far as funding, there is no risk involved (if the campaign goal is not reached, no money will be lost on your part). To be honest, though, this project is the biggest challenge I've ever faced. I've worked hard with the time I've been given to create an interesting story and world. Even if I've made the goal as low as possible, I know this will not be easy. I feel I'm close to being able to publish my first ever colored comic book for a worldwide audience, but I can't do it all on my own. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Other Ways You Can Help
Even if you're unable to contribute to the goal, you can still help! Please share this project on social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr) and/or artists sites (e.g. Deviantart, Pixiv). Every little bit to get the word out counts. Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
