DO IT AGAIN, directed by Robert Patton-Spruill, is a film about my irrational quest to reunite the Kinks. It includes appearances by Sting, Zooey Deschanel, Robyn Hitchcock, Paul Weller, Peter Buck and, of course, Dr. Warren Zanes. The film has been completed, played film festivals and received rave reviews from, among others, Variety, Ain't It Cool News, The Boston Globe and Huffington Post. This campaign is for its TV version. Here's our old clip to give you a taste of the film.
You’ve been with us through so much. The filming. The editing. The festival circuit. Now, we’re looking for help to make our TV version of DO IT AGAIN a reality. Actually, it already is. Our one-hour version of DO IT AGAIN will be shown on PBS stations in the fall. So far, we’re signed on eight markets: Boston, Austin, Louisiana, Wichita, Atlanta, Oregon, Hawaii, and Connecticut. Hopefully, we’ll get more stations to show the film. (Writing your local programmer always helps.)
PBS is great in so many ways, in no small part because we get to share this film with lots of people. But one thing PBS does not have is a lot of cash to throw at filmmakers. And readying our film for TV has cost us. We had to spend several weeks editing it down. We had to do a new sound mix and dub a pair of tapes. Now, we’re going to need something called Errors & Omissions insurance ($3,300) and to license some video clips ($900).
The reality is, I’m going to do this no matter how much we raise. But I owe it to myself – and to my family – to ask for more help. You all know how much they’ve supported me already, both emotionally and financially. (I think there aren’t a lot of wives who would not only allow their husband’s to throw $30,000 on the home equity, but would suggest it.) So pledge what you can and we’ll get your rewards right out. And keep tuned to doitagainthemovie.com for updates on our upcoming screenings.
