Rivulets is an album of original music, composed over the past five years. Through these compositions, I explore the varied complex ways jazz intersects with current directions in songwriting and production. Bassist Sean Farias and drummer Miki Matsuki join me in developing this harmonic language, and their incredible musicianship brings these compositions to life.
After a year of focused work on Rivulets, I am in the final stages of production on the album. Everything is recorded and mixed—the band sounds really great on this one—and I can't wait to get it into your hands.
Here is where you come in. Up to now, I have been able to cover all of the production costs out of pocket, but I need your help to master the recording, create the CDs, and cover distribution and promotion expenses. Lend a hand with a pledge.
It would also be great if you could pitch in by posting this page on Facebook and Twitter and sharing the project with friends and family via email. With your help, we can share the new music on Rivulets with listeners everywhere. Thank you for joining the team and lending a hand!
Your money goes to:
Acclaimed mastering engineer Scott Hull at Masterdisk in New York will be mastering the tracks on Rivulets this summer. I'm meeting with him at the end of July to discuss the final details for the project, and then—with your help—we're ready to get started.
CD Replication & Printing:
Oasis Disc Manufacturing is ready start printing CDs and packaging. For the album design, I worked with graphic artist Junko Pinkowski, who created some amazing artwork for this project. The CDs are going to look as great as they sound! Junko has even agreed to create some limited-edition art prints of her designs for Kickstarter contributors who select the $70 reward.
Promotion and Advertising
It is really important to me that I am able to fairly compensate the other talented artists who work with me on all of my projects. With your help, I will be able to compensate my musicians and perform a series of concerts in New York and Boston to promote the album this year. I am committed to getting this music out into the world, and the Kickstarter funds will directly enable that goal.
This Kickstarter will also cover distribution costs so that I can share the record with journalists, radio stations, and reviewers.
Risks and challenges
Oasis and Masterdisk are great, well-established companies to work with. I know both organizations will keep me apprised if there are any delays in their processes. Otherwise, the album should be ready for its fall release. I will be in touch with all contributors in the unlikely event that there are changes to the productions schedule.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
