O.K, everybody. I really do hate to ask for your help, but here's my story: I love rock and roll, and have always dreamed of making a record full of great songs reminiscent of the great American music of the 50s and 60s. For years I have made a living, more or less, playing piano for all kinds of projects, from rock, to jazz, to funk, and beyond. I spent years as the Musical Director at The Second City, Chicago's famed comedy theater. I now live in Dayton, Ohio, and am part of the incredible music scene here. Since moving here, I've had the opportunity to play with some of the best musicians and songwriters I've ever met. However, I've never had the opportunity to record an album under my name. My band (great musicians) and I have begun tracking my first album, "Ahead of the Pack," at Cyberteknics Creative Studios in Dayton, Ohio, and things are sounding incredible. The studio is exactly what you want for vintage-sounding recording: great instruments and amps, great vintage mics and console, and a brilliant engineer in Phil Mehaffey. The songs are all original, and have a real rock and roll/country/New Orleans vibe. What I need the funding for is the final mixing and mastering of the album, as well as the cost of artwork and printing. With a successful Kickstarter campaign this dream of mine can finally come true. If I am fortunate enough, you will be a part of it, too!
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk involved with my project occurs after it is completed: marketing it. The actual finishing of the album itself will be a piece of cake, as long as I have the funding. Otherwise, I'm stuck with a half-finished bunch of unmixed tracks, with which I can do nothing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
