Mine came a few days ago.

They certainly are lovely, substantial, feel good-in-the-hand pieces. I think I'll have to put them on a sunny windowsill to catch the light, at least for now. (My desk is *far* too cluttered.) It's interesting to move them around to hold them "just so" to see the words appear. Very clever indeed!

Good luck with your new company & don't forget to send us word now & then about what's happening.

Oh. My. Goodness. TOM! It's absolutely beautiful! I promptly burst into tears when I opened the lovely box today - not only because it is a such a magical piece of art, but because when I held it in my hands, I could feel the months and months of thought, imagination, love and labour that went into its creation. I am blown away. I cannot take my eyes off it. I had no idea that the end result was going to be so utterly perfect. Thank you so much, Tom. Be proud. Be so very proud. x

@Tom, great job on this project. Mine arrived this morning and I'm delighted. Very hefty and a definite 'work of art'. Chaos came out great Order is a little harder to get into focus but equally cool.

      Hey Tom,

Mine just arrived in Vancouver today. It was certainly worth the wait - nice job all around!

Great work Tom!! Mine arrived yesterday, and it will soon be on my desk. I am pleased that my small contribution gave me an original piece of cool and clever art. Wishing you all the best in school and where ever your creative talents take you!

Glad you're happy with them! Yes, unfortunately the shipper isn't sending out tracking numbers, it's just too much work to manage all that on top of the shipments. Just know that they're heading out of the manufacturer as we speak, and they should all be shipped out soon.
Please help me and your fellow backers out by posting that you received yours if you live outside the US or somewhere off the beaten path.

Mine just arrived and I was in the same boat as Brice Webster---was not expecting it. Really impressed with how it turned out. Great work and good job!

Just got mine in the mail today which was a pleasant surprise because I was not expecting it. I really like the little box it was put it. The sculpture itself is awesome. I am pleased with the whole package.:D

Hi, I recently moved (about 4 weeks ago). I had updated my address in Amazon but am not sure if you'll be using that one or the one I had supplied back in march. How can I have you ship to my new address ?

Sorry for the lack of updates! Working on one now, I'll post soon. Thanks for your patience!

    21. Joshua Langert on April 23, 2012

I will admit that I held out until the LAST second, but gave in, not knowing what the new design will be....but I'm sure it will be great. But I do wish I knew what it will be....anxiously awaiting!

    22. Hiphopanonymous on April 23, 2012

@ Tom I really like the original form/function design but am also curious about the new design. However, after re-watching your video I'm going to just dive in and get both, upping my pledge to $80. I'm excited to see what the new design will be, and I have faith in the final design you and the backers will end up choosing.

    23. Tom 2-time creator on April 23, 2012

@Victor, I did say that I would announce the design early if possible, I've been making a real effort to do so but for a few different reasons I won't be able to do it. I'm really sorry if that's a dealbreaker for you, but please feel free to message me if you want to talk about it more.

I can say that it will probably be two opposing words with very different letter styles intended to match their meanings. I've eliminated any pairs that have to do with current events, pop culture, religion, or literary references, as well as suggestions for words in multiple languages. This is to avoid references people don't like or understand. I'm also not using romantic language (e.g., "Love" and "Always") or polarizing/arguing language (e.g. Republican/Democrat, Right/Wrong, etc.) for similar reasons.

Again, very sorry! If this announcement is critical to your pledge, anyone is free to contact me and discuss it. Thanks so much for everything!

Any info yet about what will be on the new design?

    26. Tom 2-time creator on April 18, 2012

Thanks for the feedback and pledge! Yes please, it should be an extra $10 for international shipping across the board. I'll clarify on the main page.

    27. Guinthier Oiseau on April 18, 2012

First I'd like to say that I'm in love with your work, and second I was wondering if I had to add 10$ for international shipping for the 80$ pledge, since it's not specify.

Hey tom, i was wondering what will be the two words on the $35 pledge level. i'm a bit confused on that part.

    29. Tom 2-time creator on April 9, 2012

      scifantasy, Jessica (and everyone),

@scifantasy: I've added that option as well, great suggestion! It will need to be $80, I looked into shipping them both in the same box to save on shipping but that complicates the distributor, I think.

@Jessica: I just posted an update: I'm adding an option to buy a form/function design, but I still haven't chosen the final new design. I have a few ideas, but I don't want to say too much in case it all changes. Right now my thoughts are on themes of puzzles, things appearing and disappearing, arguments/perspectives, optical illusions, possibly doing one word and one image... not sure. I've never done an image, but I'd love to try for this one.

Thanks so much for the comments!

    30. scifantasy on April 9, 2012

      Er. Pledge $80.

    31. scifantasy on April 9, 2012

If I pledge $70, can I get both form/function and the new design?

    32. Jess Thetip on April 9, 2012

Can we have an update on what the design is going to be? Or if there is going to be a chioce of designs? I'd like to up my pledge, but I can't without knowing what the actual design will be. Thanks!

Your Dad is the original "Big Guy". It must have been difficult growing up in the long shadow he cast on the golf course.
Your 3 dimensional skills are from trying to visualize what Jerry's legs would look like if they were straight.
Good luck in your career and keep sending those tuition bills to Wichita.

    38. J. Howard on March 18, 2012

Fair enough. Either way, I'm sure the final design will look great.

    39. Tom 2-time creator on March 18, 2012

      J. Howard - great question! I'd like to offer something like that, since you're not the first person to ask. There are a couple things holding me back for being able to offer a form/function sculpture as well.
      1. That design was made for Northwestern University and the Segal Design Institute, so I don't feel comfortable using it without their permission. I'm talking with them now to see how they feel about it, we may be able to work something out.
      2. The pricing of the sculptures is based on a bulk order of 100 (hence the original limit), and if I cut that into two halves the individual price of each sculpture goes up. I'd need to redo the math and see if I'd end up losing money on each sculpture.

I'm definitely looking into it though, and if it works then I may add it as another pledge level option. I can't promise anything though!

    40. J. Howard on March 18, 2012

Question: Depending on the final design, would it be possible to opt to instead have the Form/Function cube sent to us rather than the new design?

    41. Bobby Allen
      on March 16, 2012

A cube has 6 sides. have you tried to get all six to say something?

      Dearest Tom,

The first years and I wanted to help support you on this endeavor. You have done so much for the Loft and now it is time for us to give back to you.

That and... well, we don't trust you making these design decisions yourself so we wanted the opportunity to chime in. :)

(I think it should be pink)

This reminded me of a puzzle in Uncharted 3 for the ps3. You walk around with a light source and shine it on objects around a room trying to get the shadows of the objects to match up with a picture on the wall. Real cool and pledged 35$ for a sculpture.…

Here is a video what I was talking about.
