Thad Castle with important information regarding our College Contest!
Making Blue Mountain State was one of the greatest experiences of my life. If you had fun watching it, believe me, we had just as much fun making it. When the show was canceled unexpectedly in 2012, after only three seasons on the air, I felt cheated. For you and for us. College is supposed to be four years. We needed four seasons to complete the show. Since the day of our cancellation, we’ve been trying to figure out a way to make a BMS movie. “We” being myself, my co-creator Romanski, and our amazing cast lead by Alan Ritchson, who played Thad Castle on the show.
First we tried to go the traditional route, but our studio wasn’t interested in making a BMS movie. They were too busy making Twilight. So we asked them if we could have the rights and go make a movie on our own. Surprisingly enough, it worked! After a lengthy process, we were given the rights and our studio's blessing to make this movie.
Next we looked into finding private investors for the film. There was some interest, but unfortunately those investors didn’t share our vision for the movie and we ended up parting ways. Our goal is, and has always been, to make a movie that will satisfy our fans. Our fan base is fiercely loyal, and we couldn’t imagine making a movie that wouldn’t honor that.
So now here we are, on Kickstarter. We’re on our own. No studio backing us, and no distributor attached to the project. Some people might look at no studio and no distributor as a negative, but I see it as a positive. No studio and no distributor means we, as creatives, are free to make the biggest, craziest, most outrageous movie possible. We’re free to make the Blue Mountain State movie that we, and our fans, want to see.
I truly believe that with your support, we can make something special. Thank you for your interest in our project. I’ll see you at The Goat House.
Risks and challenges
Blue Mountain State: The Movie will face the typical risks and challenges any production of this magnitude would face. We have a great team of experienced producers who are prepared to take on any and all challenges that come our way. We will also be bringing in an experienced director to helm the project. We will offset all risks with production insurance and contingency plans.
As far as reward fulfillment goes, we have a team of interns whos’ only job will be to make sure the rewards are delivered safely and on time. If for some reason the interns become overwhelmed, we have already contacted a professional fulfillment company who are ready to take over if the need arises.
Important information about rewards:
- Our plan is to shoot this summer in Montreal, QC. However this has the potential to change. We will keep you updated.
- Travel, lodging, and transportation to events and set visits are NOT included in any reward bundle.
- You must be over 18 or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (who will count as your plus one) to attend events or visit the set. Extras must also be over 18.
- Some rewards may require additional paperwork (to protect us and you)
After you've donated, simply leave the name of the school you're affiliated with and the amount you've donated in the comment section. At the end of the campaign we will tally the amount that each school has donated. The cast and creators will travel to the winning school once the movie is finished, screen the movie for the students, and stay to party with you after. (Must be 21 or over to party)
Simply add $35 to your donation. Once the campaign is ended, we will contact you and you can let us know then that you've donated extra for the additional shirt.
We’re hoping to film this summer on a college campus in Montreal. We have a pretty tight window, since school’s come back in session in late August, but we can make it happen. Then the movie would most likely be released in the spring of 2015.
All of the funds raised on kickstarter will go directly to the production of the BMS Movie. We’ll use every penny to make this the craziest, funniest BMS story you could imagine.
Believe me, if we could do a screening in every town in America/the world we would. But it just isn’t feasible, so we had to limit the amount of places we’ll do a premiere. However, with this is mind, we created the College Contest. So the most enthusiastic college campus, who can raise the most money, will get a private screening with the cast and creators.
Once the campaign ends, if we're successful, we will contact you via email to get your shirt size and design choices. Our staff will make sure you receive exactly the shirt you want in the size and design you've requested.
Absolutely. We will sign things until we get carpal tunnel, then we’ll sign more stuff. And Alan Ritchson will be locked away and not be fed until he hits his quota for the day. Just kidding?
While you’ll definitely be on camera during filming, we can’t guarantee that each shot will make the cut. If you don’t end up in the final cut, we’ll work out a way to get you the deleted scene with you in it.
Short answer: Yes... Kickstarter only takes pledges to donate, so the money won't be taken out of your account until we meet our goal and the project it complete. If we don't hit out goal, then no money will be taken from your account.
There are several opportunities to appear in the movie laid out in our rewards section. Unfortunately, we cannot negotiate on these price points. It wouldn't be fair to the people who donate the required money, if we allowed others to be in the film for less.
If we're successful in funding the film, we will be holding traditional casting sessions, mostly likely in Los Angeles and Montreal.
I'm working hard to make sure all questions get answered. I've been bombarded with messages since the launch so please have patience. I promise I'll get to yours when I'm able.
Simply add $300 to your donation. Once the campaign is ended, we will contact you and you can let us know then that you've donated extra for the additional jersey.
Even though it's a new reward, the college package pint glass and shot glass is automatically included in all rewards above the $20 price point. Not a bad deal, right?
The Billion Dollar Bill poster is 36 X 40
The Cast posters are 16 X 20
Posters are available for $30 each. You can add as many as you'd like to your order, the price is always $30.
A signed poster is always $100. $30 for the poster + $70 for the signature. You can request as many or as few signatures as you'd like on each poster. The price remains the same.
