10% goes to Kickstarter and Amazon for allowing me to use this wonderful site. $200 will go into paying for ISBNs for both copies of the book. The rest will go into printing and shipping costs, as well as producing the other goods offered in the project. Any extra money earned above $1000 will go towards more copies of the books and, if enough is earned, will go towards promotion and comic conventions to further show off the novel.
Heimdall Thunderhammer is the pen name I'm using for writing the Magefable series. There are several reasons for this.
1) I've always invisioned the story being told by a viking so I picked a name that would invoke that image to readers.
B) My main audience is middle-grade kids and I'm sure they'd rather read an adventure book by Heimdall Thunderhammer as opposed to Travis Strout.
3) How cool would it be to go on book tours and signings dressed as a viking?
But my main reason is simply not to confuse my readers with the rest of my writing. I plan on there being a lot of books in the Magefable series, with spin offs and short stories. Travis wants to write many things, not just this series (although this is my priority). Travis might want to write a book about flower arranging, who knows? I can guarantee you Heimdall Thunderhammer will never write a book about flower arranging, so you can always know a Magefable book when you see the author's name.
