The Dream of the Open Road
All across America trucks rumble across the interstate carrying products from manufacturers to retailers. As a small start-up company with a truck, an office and a dream you are throwing your hat into the ring to challenge the big boys.
The freight has to be moved and there is stiff competition for who can get loads first and who can make the most profitable routes. But watch out, Smokey is on the prowl. So put the hammer down and let it all hang out. You have to get... Loaded Up & Truckin’

Players: 2-6 Duration: 40-120 (twenty minutes per player)
As a player, you represent a small but growing trucking company seeking to pick up and deliver goods in the most efficient manner possible.
Amassing money is one way to achieve victory, but there are other ways to score as well. It is important to dominate a region or two with the most deliveries while not ignoring the other regions.
In the end, your deliveries will be compared to the other players to determine which company has the best overall presence in the US. Players gain presence by moving their trucks from city to city across the United States picking up and dropping off deliveries along the way. You can specialize in high profit cross-country runs or you can make numerous short routes.
On each turn the vagaries of the business will be determined by a deck of event cards. Each player will then get to buy new hubs and trucks before setting out to scoop up goods before a rival comes along and 'steals' the load.

DESIGNER: Loaded Up & Truckin' is designed by Joe Roush, a new designer about to have a number of games on the market. In addition to this gem, Joe has worked on Manoeuvre: Distant Lands being published by GMT Games and Dark Domains which NNG is excited to do later this year.
DEVELOPER:Loaded Up and Truckin' has been developed by Jeff Horger, designer of Manoeuvre, 20th Century Limited, Thunder Alley & the upcoming Fast & Furious: Full Throttle among others. Jeff has made a switch from design to development and is eager to use his 15 years of experience to help other designers bring their games to fruition.
ART DIRECTION: The game art and design has been done by James Davis who also did Jeff & Carla's 20th Century Limited with Rio Grande. What you see here on the Kickstarter page is some of the finished work for the game. As more art becomes available, we will share that during the campaign and subsequent updates.

What makes an NNG game Special?
When you're trying to decide whether or not you to back a game on Kickstarter, one of the most important considerations you make is getting a sense of whether or not the game is any good. An important thing to look for is whether or not a professional developer is attached to the project.
• All of our games receive professional development
Professional development means that someone with experience in the hobby and game design comes at the design objectively to review the mechanisms and gameplay. A designer who has invested months iterating details and hours of playtests can easily lose some perspective along the way. Developers are only focused on where the game is when they come to it, so they have fresh eyes.
A developer is like an editor to a manuscript. This role is essential because they look for untested assumptions, ferret out where things can be streamlined, and engage the designer in a fresh dialog about where the game is and can still go. Have playtesters been ruthless? Can the game be shorter? Is there a dominant strategy? A developer is a professional game's best friend.
Nothing Now Games is a start-up company hoping to take full use of the Kickstarter marketplace. We have a variety of great games waiting to be produced, and what we need is commitments from people like you to help these games see the light of day. If any of us in the company had the ability to do so, we would produce all of these games right away. However, in the final assessment, we need your help to make not only Loaded Up & Truckin' a reality, but Nothing Now Games as well. This is not unfortunate, it allows us to put a great game out there and see if we can get people to help us make it as spectacular as possible. We at NNG are excited to have this chance to start out on the right foot and begin building a base of fans and partners from the start.
What do we need the money for and in specific, what do we need this exact amount of money for?
- We need to pay the printers.
- We need to pay for Shipping from the factory to our warehouse.
- We need to pay the artist for the work that is already completed including the box cover, game board and event card deck.
- We need to pay the artist to finish the parts that have not yet been completed including the token sheet, player mats, box back & rule book.
- Pay Kickstarter.
- A small cushion against unexpected expenses.
What if we go over the goal? Well, the first inclination is to say, great! a profit. But the truth is we would like to have some extra cushion for the unexpected costs that will arise. Any actual profits will be cycled back into NNG for future games. Currently we have about 15 games on the boards waiting to get into your hands. Some of them are wonderful Kickstarter games, Dark Domains, Fury of Harrows, Title Chase Basketball. Others however are games that don't fall neatly into the Kickstarter category, like Card Games and Kids Games. So all of us that make up the company are essentially working for free through the first 4-6 games as the company to builds up the reserves that will allow us to make a mistake or publish some games outside of the Kickstarter model. So if we really do well, NNG will progress more quickly than expected and the four of us that make up the company will have pride in a job well-done.
Why should you fund this Kickstarter? After all, if it succeeds this game will possibly be on store shelves anyway, so why help out now? The most obvious answer is that without your Kickstarter patronage there will be no game and no company. No one associated with the company has the cash reserves laying around to make it happen without you. We will swim or sink due to your support. If the game does succeed we acknowledge that the people that helped us succeed should get something unique as a thank you for their support. To us that means that any game we put on Kickstarter will be unique from future editions.
Nothing Now Games has given this concept a great deal of thought. Unlike some Kickstarter Publishers we are hoping to become a large publisher. So out of the gate we have numerous games to develop, create and sell. Physically and economically it seems counter-productive to have knick-knacks that do not improve the game to be placed in specific shipments. Instead we have decided that for all games we put on Kickstarter we will have a "Kickstarter Edition". That first printing of the game will have something as a part of it that is unique. If the game warrants a reprint, the Kickstarter special components will be swapped out, forever. Anyone that ends up buying a 1st Edition (Kickstarter Edition) will have a unique version of the game. Some of you wordsmiths may have already deduced this, but it does mean that, whatever amount of the first print run is not sold via Kickstarter will also hit the market with those unique bits. We are not trying to mislead anyone, but from a business standpoint, it is easier to make a smaller run that may overflow some into the distribution marketplace than to be forced to add in components post production to specific games. Other clever ones of you may also now think that all editions subsequent to the first will be somewhat unique as well. That is also the case, but we are making every effort to have the big guns show up in the Kickstarter edition.
LOADED UP & TRUCKIN' KICKSTARTER EDITION
So what is special about the Loaded Up & Truckin' version that you can get through Kickstarter? I'm glad you asked. Our philosophy is to include everything necessary for the game in the base game. If you need it, you get it; whatever "it" is. If you don't need it, then we are not going to spend a lot of effort creating chachkies that don't enhance game play. That does pose interesting choices for what to put into the Kickstarter Edition. Luckily we have a large number of Event Cards that could have been included in the games. So the Kickstarter Edition will have 41 Event Cards and if the game ever warrants a reprint we will swap out at least 10 of those cards and likely more for different events that were not chosen for the first game.
Our Backer Levels are pretty simple.
At $40 we are providing you a copy of the Kickstarter Edition of the Game.
For an extra $20 you can name one commodity in the game. City assignment is on a first-come basis.
For an extra $50 you will be allowed to name one of the 36 truck drivers in the game. Color/Company assignment will be on a first-come basis.
For an extra $100 you will be allowed to name one of the 6 Trucking Companies in the game. Colors will be assigned on a first come-basis.
At $500 you get 2 games and you get to meet the crew and have dinner on us at one of the 2016 conventions we are sure to be at; Origins, Gencon or Buckeye Game Fest.
For this campaign we will have two very achievable stretch goals.
At $42,000 we will replace the standard six-sided die in the game with a custom die and remove the chart from the game board.
At $45,000 we will include wooden trucks and a sticker sheet for identification.
That is all that the game really can use without getting bloated. This game is very complete as is and the couple of improvements essentially fill it out. There is not really anything else useful to be added. We also feel that as this is our first product, we should try to stick to a solid plan and not get in any trouble chasing rabbits down every hole. We can handle producing the game and we chose Loaded Up & Trucking specifically because it does not lend itself to numerous enhancements. But that is not true for all of our games. We will have some games coming in the future that may end up being a Stretch Goal monsters (Dark Domains anyone?) so we are not put off by them, it is just that this game simply needs nothing else to be the best game it can be.
Risks and challenges
So let's say we get this truck loaded up, what might happen between the warehouse and the destination?
Art. We will have the cover, board and cards done for the game before the Kickstarter launches. But there are some player aids and a mountain of tokens that need to be done. Hopefully that will not take too long, but it will involve some time for the artist who is very good and very busy.
After that, it is in the printers hands and the shippers trucks and boats. We at NNG have no control over the games from their leaving the loading docks at the printers until they reach our destination point. Hopefully you are all savvy enough to understand this. But that can be a major source of delay.
NNG is happy that we not only have game industry professionals on the team but our boss is a very skilled project manager who is used to dealing with and overcoming problems and has 15 years of experience managing projects from inception through completion and warranty. He has previous experience with a distribution company in the top 20 of the fortune 500 as well as a leading auto financial services institute. I feel quite safe that among us we can overcome any issue. But don't rely on just us, our list of contacts and mentors is long and varied. If we run into any serious issue we have many other industry professionals willing to give us help and advice.
We at NNG intend to be completely transparent about our projects and our company. If we could, we would make all of our supporters partners. Yes, we are doing this for potential profit.
