Give your Camera protection against Dust and Moisture by adding a weather seal that integrates with all of your lenses!

"In my years as a wedding photographer, I also learned that this weather sealing helps to keep the sound of your camera’s shutter down, which is a nice added bonus" - Chris Gampat

"It will help immensely in cutting down how frequently your camera sensor needs dust cleaning, can prevent moisture from getting into the camera in humid environments, and should generally decrease the wear and tear on both body and glass, helping to preserve their quality and resale value longer" - Darrell Etherington

" on your EF-mount lens and forget about. Once it’s on there, however, it’ll protect from water and dust, keeping your sensor and the inside of your body cleaner and safer" - DL Cade

"For explorers that are constantly out in the elements without weather-sealed lenses, it's common for dust and moisture to penetrate into the body and contaminate your sensor" - Matthew Scott

"We think this is quite a novel idea for protecting your Canon gear in harsh environments, considering you'd have to shell out more than a thousand dollars for Canon's professional-series L lenses that comes with weather sealing" Shawn Low

The Dust Donut is a Weather sealing rubber accesory that attaches to the mounting surface of your DSLR's lens and blocks dirt and moisture from collecting around your lens and camera's connecting area. This prevents harmful dirt and moisture from entering your Camera body's opening and collecting on the Digital Sensor causing serious damage and image degradation.

The Problem

  • Nearly 75% of lenses available on the Canon EF lens mount lack any form of weather sealing
  • All users whether Professional, Amateur, or anywhere in between are vulnerable to dust and moisture entering their Camera's sensor cavity and lens optics during use regardless of the operating environment
  • There currently is no way for a photographer to add weather sealing of any kind to the mount of their lenses without the use of bulky and cumbersome rain covers
  • Interchangeable lens cameras require frequent and time consuming sensor cleaning due to dust build up
  • Dust particles can also penetrate the lens and collect between its optics and cause resolution loss and negatively effect the resale value of the lens
  • Moisture can easily pass through an unsealed lens mount and condense on the optics causing haze and the growth of fungus

The Solution

Installing a Dust Donut to your unsealed lens offers a convenient, seamless solution some of the most harmful and expensive problems that threaten DSLR users.

Fits as if it were made by Canon:   Dust Donuts create a weather resistant seal in the same way that high end Canon "L" series lenses do. Dust Donuts are manufactured to a level of precision found only in aerospace engineering with extremely tight tolerances to ensure that the seal fits in exactly the same manner as the factory Canon sealed lenses do with no sloppy over hangs or gaps that could allow leaks or impede lens attachment or removal

Becomes one with your Lens:     Dust Donut's apply directly to the mounting surface of the lens and requires no further attention once installed, just use your lens as usual but with the added peace of mind that both of your investments are protected against Dust and Moisture.

Peace of Mind with any Lens: Now Photographers everywhere can take full advantage of Canon's non Weather Resistant lenses and even the more affordable third party lenses while still benefiting from the increased durability of a Dust and Moisture resistant Camera/Lens combination!

How your Support Helps

To date all engineering, prototyping, and related costs have been funded by myself. Now that I have secured production and shipment facilities and refined and tested the product to ensure performance I have exhausted my financial means to get Dust Donuts out to photographers who would benefit from them. I hope that by reaching out to the diverse and forward thinking Kickstarter Community I can begin production and start shipping out Dust Donuts sooner than otherwise possible on my own.

How the Funding will be Used:  With the most expensive costs already paid for my Funding Goal reflects the minimum amount required to have the first batch of Canon EF mount Dust Donuts produced packaged and shipped across the U.S. All aspects of production are 100% based in the U.S.A. and I am proud to do so.

Shipping Schedule

My manufacturer and fulfillment company are ready to begin production and shipping orders as soon as demand is proven on the Kickstarter Campaign. This means that as soon as the Funding goal is reached production will begin ensuring timely deliveries to backers with Early Bird backers receiving priority. Once funded I will begin the following production schedule;

  • First at around mid March Kickstarter funds should be available which will be used to pay manufacturer balances and secure materials for additional orders if needed
  • In late March units will be produced and received by the order fulfillment company and promptly packaged and shipments will begin to head out for delivery
  • Late April- Backers will begin to receive their Dust Donuts!

Which lenses does the Dust Donut fit?

The Dust Donut fits all Canon EF mount lenses including third party brands that have a minimum of two tenths of a centimeter or 2mm thick mounting surface. For a quick test to see if your lens will accept a Dust Donut simply hold up an SD memory card against the lens mount if the thickness of the mount is equal to or greater than the thickness of the memory card then your lens is able to be Dust and Moisture sealed with a Dust Donut. The Lens Compatibility List below represents all of the Canon lenses that the Dust Donut is known to fit. Please note that if your Canon lens is not listed this is because it most likely has either an in compatible plastic mount surface or a metal mount surface that is too thin to hold a Dust Donut in place.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

With any manufacturing project there are possibilities of delays for various reasons. Materials can arrive late, parts can be rejected, weather can delay shipments, however, I have researched my manufacturer and suppliers thoroughly and have found nothing but positive reviews of their operations. The company who manufactures the Dust Donut is also a medical equipment manufacturer and is held to very strict standards when it comes to delivery times, production standards, and reliability.

If for any reason production is delayed I am committed to providing Backers with frequent status updates and will do everything in my power to ensure that the Dust Donuts ship by the expected dates. I believe that transparency is the best approach in business and I plan to maintain complete transparency with my backers through frequent, honest updates and excellent communication so please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I sincerely Thank You for taking the time to learn about what the Dust Donut can offer.
