About this project
Alastair Sterling was an inventor on the verge of changing the robotics industry forever - until his untimely death supposedly removed him from the equation. 16 years later, he wakes up in an identical robot body and finds a world that remembers him, in more ways than one.
There's his partner, Brendan Pinsky, who's headed Sterling's company as CEO, and with whom Al shared a secret relationship up to the day of his death...
There's Sulla, the female android who began as an imperfect copy of Al's mind, and who's facing her own problems in the presence of her long lost "father"...
And then there are the countless robots who now populate the city Al left behind, holding on to a legacy that Al isn't sure he asked for...
O Human Star Volume 2 continues the story that Volume 1 began, collecting Chapters 4 and 5 (originally serialized at ohumanstar.com from February 2014 to October 2016). This volume will consist of a 162 page book, and will include the side story "Optimal," which first appeared in the Lambda Literary award-winning Beyond Anthology.
This campaign will also include a larger reprint of Volume 1, which, at 192 pages, collects Chapters 1 through 3.
- $30,000 - MORE MAGNETS! Backers at the ANDROID, GYNOID, and LOVE MACHINE tiers will receive a set of 7 O Human Star magnets instead of just 4!
O Human Star is a long-form science fiction comic with a diverse LGBTQ cast. There are a lot of readers out there who want to read sci-fi they can see themselves in (I should know, being one such reader and having met countless others at conventions over the past few years), but these kinds of books can be difficult to publish through traditional channels. Crowdfunding has proven to be an ideal platform to make printing my work a reality.
Moreover, by Kickstarting O Human Star I’ll be able to oversee all aspects of the book’s production. I’ve chosen to work with a printer following ethics guidelines for its factories and paper sourcing.

Risks and challenges
My team and I successfully fulfilled the campaign to print Volume 1 in 2014 with few problems. This time I am partnering with Blackbox to help deliver your physical rewards after witnessing their great work on similar small-press comics campaigns.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
