I am working on a guide book for Colorado trail runners and hikers who like to bring their young kids along in jogging strollers. My wife and I love to run, especially on unpaved trails, and there are hundreds to choose from in the Denver urban area, plains, and lower foothills. Dirt trails are so much better for running than asphalt, the scenery is breathtaking, and the little ones love being out in nature! After the birth of our son (and our first stroller purchase) we wanted to keep running, but were surprised to find that no comprehensive guide exists for this purpose. So we began compiling our own list of suitable trails near Denver (now including over 20 candidates).
We want to motivate active parents with young kids to keep running, but we need your help to turn this idea into reality. We have already put a lot of effort into planning the guide, running, photographing, and drawing some candidate trails. Our costs will include funding the first color print run of the guide, paying for an ISBN number, marketing, and other self-publication costs.
Any support for this project will be appreciated. We are also looking for test runners to check for accuracy in the guide. Thank you!
Risks and challenges
The guide is about 25% done, with plenty of running, mapping, and writing left to do. We are doing our own GPS mapping, map drawing, photography, and writing. We'd like to finish the project by this summer and make the book available shortly after that.
If the project is overfunded, we will stretch our goals to include an interactive eBook publication in the iBookstore and an online version of the guide with a forum where runners can leave comments.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
