Hello! We are Elaine and Efka of No Pun Included and we've been making board game reviews for four years. We want year five to be a reality. We believe in making independent content that is powered by you - our viewers. And as nice as it sounds - without your help it cannot exist. If we reach our goal you will help fund No Pun Included for the next six months and potentially more.
And this is what we can achieve:
- Continued informative, analytical, independent & most importantly, silly board game reviews.
- Weekly board game news videos.
- Monthly board game playthroughs.
- Monthly live Q&As
Don't let Elaine's demure demeanor fool you - we've got some very excellent thank yous to mail as part of our campaign. Every backer that backed for £10 or above will receive our monthly newsletter and the all new Gloomhaven digital scenario.
But what about promos you say? Well, instead of having a wide variety of promos like many other board game channel Kickstarters, we wanted to give you a chance to nab a promo for some select, excellent games.
Gloomhaven Digital Scenario - just like last year, we'll have an all new scenario for this year's backers.
The City of Kings: Jamba Costume - honestly, we don't know what a Jamba is, but we know it's adorable. This promotional item is exclusive to our channel for a limited time.
Terraforming Mars: Snow Algae - we think that Terraforming Mars has somewhere around twenty thousand cards (not necessarily an accurate estimation) but we're happy to offer you a chance to own more algae. Have you tried snow algae? It's pretty much the new frapuccino.
Meeple Circus: Tomatoes and Awards - one of our favourite games from last year was Meeple Circus and this promo lets you throw rotten (cardboard) tomatoes at your opponents. We're happy to be the first ones to offer this promo in English because English tomatoes are the best.
Clank! In! Space!: Code Red - when we heard that this card was only previously available as a Gen Con promo, we jumped at the chance to have it on our campaign. It's very lovely to make something available that wasn't very available before and make it more available. Available!
We wanted to make some promos from last year's campaign available this year as well but because of limited quantities and the vagaries of pledge structuring, we can only make them available through the For Promos Old and New pledge level. Regardless, each backer, on top of all the new promos will receive last year's Scythe, Imperial Settlers & Dice Stars promos.
Finally, we have some more esoteric rewards that fans of the show might very much enjoy:
Customized Voicemail Message:
Do you hate recording your own voicemail message? We've got you covered. From now on every time you're too busy spending some quality time in the bathroom to pick up your phone, your friends and loved ones will be told they're not important enough to get through to you - by us.
A Video of A Bad Joke:
We write so many bad jokes and we'd love to not include them into our videos. But they have to go somewhere. If you back at the For a Bad Joke pledge level, we'll send you a personalized video with a bad joke. No one else will ever see this video and each one will be unique. You will be it's proud owner, knowing you've spared the rest of the world of bad humor.
A Bag of Junk:
Welcome to the most nonsensical pledge level on Kickstarter since the potato salad debacle. We'll send you a bag of junk. There's no catch - it's just a bag of junk. There is only one of these bags of junk and as such, it has been priced accordingly. The shipping is also very expensive. What type of junk? Various props we've used in our videos over the last two years. Look forward to receiving a creepy doll, some ruined wigs, a nerf gun and maybe even a Cthulhu balaclava. Oh, we'll also send you a copy of Gloomhaven but it's not even close to being worth it.
This is what we can achieve through this campaign with your help. Except there's quite a bit more to it.
We've learned a lot from last year and know what we need to achieve so we can achieve what we want to achieve. Let us explain. Our objective was always to grow NPI to a stage where we feel comfortable about constantly delivering videos of the best quality.
We want to add so much more to the roster but we want to do it on our terms. We want everything we produce to be something we are proud of, and most importantly something you are proud of having supported. We are very excited to add monthly playthroughs but, of course, with our own spin.
Not only do we need the finances for boring things like cameras and lights and space, we need finances for manpower. Or in this case, very importantly, womanpower. If we fund - we can continue as we were and things are great. But if we reach our first stretchgoal - and a big stretchgoal it is - we can have Elaine working with us full time. And then we are unstoppable.
Thank you for taking the time to read through our campaign, thank you for considering supporting us, thank you for your love. Together we can make No Pun Included more amazing than it's ever been.
Risks and challenges
This is our second campaign and we'd like to think we'd learned from the mistakes of the first one. Last year there was a slight delay with the shipping of rewards, no more than 30 days, but we kept the communication open and transparent and delivered rewards to the satisfaction of all backers. We're very confident that this year we can deliver the rewards earlier and with no delay.
We're also confident about what we can produce and about our timeframes. With Efka having worked on No Pun Included professionally full time we know our abilities and limitations.
Of course unforeseen circumstances occur. Health issues could severely affect a two person operation for example. We've kept No Pun Included going for four years through thick and thin. We're sure we'll keep it going for many more.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
