Jim Thompson, as Shane does his designing on computer, I guess it would be virtual turkey blood?
I have this account at 90 and my main account over 200. My brother also made note that I have been ordering too many playing cards. He only knows because everything is shipped there while I'm out of the country.
I've got two accounts over $130. I would like you to draw my cards with turkey blood. Thank you.
A note about submission deadlines related to the graphic novelization: We mentioned the deadline in a hangout, but it hasn't made its way into an update yet. In order for your story to be considered for the graphic novelization (comic!), the submission must be received by Dec 30, 2013 11:59 pm EST.
I, for one, am absolutely enraged! I cannot believe you are doing so much work to make this a success and to make us happy. It's despicable and you should be ashamed of the success of it all! I sincerely hope there is a Lovecraftian twist in the works which will bring my insipidly happy state crashing to the floor like spilled porridge: with a sickening thud of hopelessly wanton loss.
:) As a backer with a Limited Deck pledge, I'm just overjoyed to be getting such a cool item. I know some collectors will want a strict cutoff for the decks, but personally I'm not worried. I'm really glad Shane is going the extra miles for this, it makes it that much more valuable and special! I believe the effort and love he puts into it is infinitely more important than any "limited" value. I've been amazed at the art and I've got an addon for a tarot deck, something I've never wanted before, but now do. It's going to be Christmas/Xmas/User_defined_holiday (take your pick :P ) all over again!
So thank you Shane, for your inspiration and hard work. Don't forget that "twist" now... don't leave us happy and satisfied!
@Ben, that is the best idea I've heard all day. I second this.
@Makiah: I'm feeling the same - imo the best option would be to limit the Limited Deck to the Kickstarter (If some people insist on wanting a limited reward). So if 3k people want one during the KS, then 3k gets maid, if only 500 want one, than 500 want one.
The problem is not that additional gets discarded - from how I read it that Shane initially said/hinted it would be 750 (I don't know if he said a hard number before - I can't remember one). And from a collectors standpoint it could make a huge different if I have one of 750 or one 1000.
Shane you should secretly keep the decks in a vault and Scrooge-McDuck swim around in them. You can add more extra limited decks after future Kickstarters, and someday a heist will be performed and a movie created about the great limited-deck-card-heist.
I'm also not a card collector, and when I first read the Limited Cards paragraph, I really didn't understand what there was that might make some people angry, even angry enough to back out.. I actually still don't know what the problem is, maybe I'm just slow. All I know is that I'm getting something and it is limited and that makes it special enough for me, and RIP extra 200 decks!
Anyway, congratulations on everything Shane, it's been a wonderful ride and the greatest Kickstarter I've experienced! We'll have to work real hard to top it on your next one ;)
The death of 200 decks of cards is a sad thing. But like Christian, I'm not a collector and not going to be saving the decks unopened, and I understand that probably a fair few of the backers are.
Shane, as I've said before and will say again all the while anyone will listen, it's through your projects that I've rekindled my interest in tabletop gaming. I will always be grateful to you for that and for some amazing crowdfunding experiences. Through hangouts and incorporating feedback - and now a whole new level through your ARG - you've made me feel truly part of a community and a group of friends, not just a funder buying into a project.
Thanks for the shout-out, but more than that, thanks for all your work on all your projects now and in the past. Anything I can ever do to help out you have but to ask.
You've always said that creating community feeling was your goal. You have succeeded, sir, completely and utterly.
Me like freebies. :) BTW, for those that missed some of the addons from previous decks, there are still a few available at albinodragon.com. I just snatched me some dice, coins, and a t-shirt featuring Dogs Playing Poker With Cthulhu.
You're doing it to me again, aren't you, Shane? Every single one of the projects with your art that I've backed, I've found a reason to add on just a little more money, then just a little more for that one last thing... :) It doesn't help that I'm utterly amazed by your art and just have to have it!
I have to say, when you think of the billions of people living on the planet, and just how many of them *aren't* involved in Kickstarter but would want to be if they knew about it, the difference between 750 decks and 1,000 is just a drop in the ocean. I can't imagine why anyone would complain about that tiny an increase, and it gives an opportunity to some of the people who weren't lucky enough to get the Limited decks. It's not like you'll be keeping printing them; I'm sure there's very few of us in the Limited tiers who begrudge our fellow members of this backer community this chance!
I completly agree with Nicole. Your last project, especially the youtube videos, got me totaly hooked on kickstarter and on card decks.
So If we actually somehow have a limited deck that ISN'T numbered it would be even more valuable for we would have saved it from the eternal flames of Shane's damnation? :O
wish there was a way to put those decks to good use :(
awww Shane! Thank you! I'm really excited by all you've done here and I can't wait to follow you on your next project.
It was interacting with you on your last project that got me hooked on kickstarter, and sold me on the sort of community that could result (hello Wayward Backers!). There are some fabulous people here doing fabulous work. I'm thrilled to be a part of it in whatever way I can.
Good thinking, Susan!
Sounds like those marked for destruction decks will be a good place to get the cards for the signed cards being sent to people.
Really nice last stretch goals. (I think a hardcover anthology would really be nice, but I'm kinda over the amount I wanted to pledge anyway :/)
To the limited Decks: I personally wouldn't mind if you keep them and add them later to some other projects - but since I'm not a card collector I'm probably not in the position to make such a call, and certainly understand if people want to protected their limited collection stuff (which I'm personally not the biggest fan of. I prefer if all people that want some cool stuff can get said cool stuff).
I really hope thats not a list of naughty backers that will be punished by your favourite Great Old One. If thats the case I kinda want a reminder to not provide my real address and hide as fast as possible (or at least try to - escaping an Great Old One is not something pulled off easily)
Since they are be numbered: Have you any order in mind? (Personally I would just randomize all, with maybe giving some levels like The Chosen the lower numbers)
Thanks, Shane. We're just doing what we enjoy, and trying to keep people from getting confused about how "Add-Ons" work, mostly. KS can be confusing for someone that hasn't been through several projects at least!
Awesome update and I will mourn the sacrifice of the unused decks may they go to be with Cthulhu in R'lyeh. IA! IA!
After work I'm going to run down the add-on list again and probably add another 20-30 dollars o_o
*strokes bank account's head soothingly*
Great run Shane....Can't wait for the next project hehehe
Hitting 120k would be awesome i think i can bump up my pledge just a little more if i search my cushions.
