Each furniture piece is hand crafted in Nashville, Tennessee using Appalachian timber.
We’re product designers by trade, and our furniture reflects that. We built PARSONAL around the principles of the original Parsons table, which was intended to be so simple that regardless of its size or finish, the integrity of the design would be maintained. Because of this, PARSONAL seamlessly blends with any style or aesthetic.
Every piece in PARSONAL is built using high quality wood sourced locally from the Appalachian Timber Reserve - you won't find MDF or particle board here. Not only is it durable, but it has also been designed to be easy to assemble and disassemble.
We’ve spent the last year building and perfecting our online user experience, from selection to checkout. The high standard to which we craft our furniture is also the standard to which we’ve refined our selection and customization process.
1. Choose
Begin by choosing a piece of furniture to start from - this is your blank canvas. As a Kickstarter backer, you will be able to choose from one or more of our nine furniture rewards.
2. Customize
Next, customize your furniture in real-time 3D on any device with a web browser - no app or software required. As a Kickstarter backer, we’ll send you a unique link to the configurator, where you’ll be able to customize the furniture reward(s) you purchase.
Backers will have the ability to customize everything: the size of the piece, the shelf configurations, and the finish of the tops & trim. For specifics on each product, refer to the rewards section.
3. Checkout
Simply and securely checkout. Your order will be built, flat-packed, and shipped to your door, ready to be assembled.
We've been working hard to build and perfect PARSONAL, but it's up to you, our Kickstarter backers, to bring it to life. That's why we've crafted a plethora of quality rewards at all price points.
Born out of a small garage in East Nashville, Arrister is a small team of three. Spawned from the award-winning 2ndlook Studio, the company was founded in May of 2014 when Andy Chick, a product designer, and his wife Lara struggled to find an end table that would fit their new living room. After visiting retail stores, shopping online, and even talking to custom furniture makers, it was clear that finding the right piece of furniture was nearly impossible. Andy, frustrated from his experience, decided to take matters into his own hands, and thus the concept of Arrister was born.
After graduating from Jumpstart Foundry, one of the nation's top startup accelerators, we’ve spent the last year developing and perfecting PARSONAL, our first furniture line. With your help, we'll be able to share it with the world.
We believe people deserve quality, custom furniture that's made in the USA, but we can only make it a reality with help from you, our Kickstarter backers.
Our funding will be used towards three specific goals:
1. To secure a factory space able to handle fulfillment of large order quantities. Our current shop is a small space on loan from our landlord, and it is nowhere near ready for mass production. With your support, we'll be able to build out our factory and bring custom furniture to the masses.
2. To finish and perfect our ready-to-assemble functionality. It’s very important to us that our furniture is easily assembled and disassembled. Our Kickstarter campaign will provide us resources needed to perfect this functionality.
3. To wrap up development of the product configurator. Our configurator technology has been under development for almost a year, and while fully working, we still have some features and functionality that we'd like to implement in the final version.
We have uploaded our entire PARSONAL collection to SketchUp's 3D Warehouse as Dynamic Component Models. This allows you to download our furniture directly into your existing SketchUp models and customize the size and finish, just as you would on our website. Risques et défis
While we are experienced product designers and have been doing this for a long time, as with any project, there are some risks and challenges that we must consider.
One of our biggest challenges is estimating the time it will take to move into our new space, and get it ready for production. We have baked in a conservative window of move time into our schedule, but there is always a risk that it will take longer than planned.
Another risk is that we still have testing to do on our ready-to-assemble manufacturing process at a large scale. Again, we have baked in time for this into our schedule, but if setting up our new equipment takes longer than expected, it might affect our fulfillment timeline.
