The MeMe’s project will enable sugar artists a place to create their works of sugar art as a licensed commercial kitchen.
What is MeMe’s Treat Boutique and how can we benefit by their existence?
MeMe’s Treat Boutique is a cake studio that will enable cake artists a place to work and create edible works of art. The artists, Eric and Patty Woller, will bring a new dimension in cake design to Central Illinois, making their sophisticated cakes available for weddings, birthdays, and special events. The cake studio will offer custom designed cakes for all occasions as well as gourmet cupcakes for those of us who can’t wait until the next special event to taste their delightful creations. Gourmet cupcakes will be available at local Farmer’s Markets as well.
What is it about the owners that make this bakery different from the others?
Eric Woller is best known as an extreme cake master on Food Network and TLC. Eric has appeared on Food Network’s Challenge and carries the title as three-time champion on TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off. Originally from Ogden, IL, Eric is the master mind behind the incredible cake structures packed full of special effects such as moving parts, lighting, fog and even scent machines.
As an extreme cake artist, Eric has incorporated his lifelong passion of art and special effects into edible creations that stand in excess of six feet tall. His celebrity clients include Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Kruger in Nightmare on Elm Street, Bruce Campbell from the cast of Evil Dead, Jeremy Bulloch who played Boba Fett in Star Wars and David Feloni, the director of The Clone Wars animated Star Wars series.
Behind every good man is a great woman. While Eric concentrates his talents on structure and design of these elaborate creations his wife Patty, also a cake challenge veteran, is the flavor extraordinaire behind the decadent cake flavors such as Chocolate Stout with Bacon and Irish Car Bomb ensuring that every amazing cake delights the taste buds as well. It’s a marriage made in a sugar-filled heaven.
Why does MeMe’s Treat Boutique need your pledge?
Anxious to deliver and short on capital, Eric and Patty are extending a unique opportunity for their fan-base to take part in the opening of MeMe’s Treat Boutique. In appreciation of your pledge, participants will be honored with rewards consisting of FREE sugar treats. Let’s work together to bring celebrity style cakes to Homer, Illinois in record speed. I don’t know about you, but I find taste buds watering for a bite of their amazing cake!
How will your proceeds be spent?
The projected building location requires conversion from a hair salon to a licensed commercial kitchen. Therefore, kitchen equipment is needed as well as cosmetic enhancements to the front show room and consultation area.
Why is your collaboration so important to the owners?
Just as so many of us have been effected, Eric and Patty were hit hard by the unstable economy. Three years ago, they had to take up the art of cake decorating as a means to supplement their income. In the short three years of creating cakes for friends and family members, the artists excelled at a rapid pace. Firm believers in the saying “when one door closes, another door opens” the owners believe the cake studio is the path chosen for them to take and are committed to bringing the vision of MeMe’s Treat Boutique to life!
