Vampires, Werewolves, & Hags of Myth for Pathfinder & 5e
Using real mythology & folklore a folklorist & GM will give you new options to play Pathfinder/5e and develop your own worlds.
Great campaigns begin with great villains, and many of the most interesting and terrifying villains come from mythology and folklore.
My name is Ty Hulse, I'm a folklorist who has written a number of books for writers and GMs to use mythology to create richer worlds and characters.
I am currently working on a book about the darker side of mythology. This book will include vampires who return from the grave and slaughter their village, werewolves who laid siege to some of the largest cities in Europe, and horrors you've probably never heard of. Everything in this book will be based on real mythology and lore, written to fit within existing 5e and Pathfinder campaigns. This book will allow you to add new villains and new PCs to your game.
My previous project, the "Mythology Manual" brought to life people's traditional folk beliefs about fairies and shamanism, and integrated deities into campaigns, since the some of the greatest adventure tales are about deities, such as Thor and Odin who fought for their lives many times. It included many new classes, over 20 new monsters, and multiple playable fairy races, all based on real mythology and folklore.
Vampires, Werewolves, and Other Horrors
I've written a number of treatises on the creatures of horror in mythology. These include accurate information on vampires in folklore, hags and witches, as well as werewolves.
New Vampire, Werewolf, and Hag Races
I've created 5 vampire, 5 werewolf, and 5 hag races for you to combat or play, all based on mythology, with quotes from lore so that you can understand the origins of the creatures presented. Each of these races will have sample characters for multiple levels so that you can quickly include them in your campaign.
Many of these creatures will be far different from what is normally encountered and played. Such as a vampire based on the spirits of dead shamans who became both natural phenomenon and undead, which is why in mythology a whirlwind could be killed with arrows and a flood with axes. Another hag, based on Alpine Mythology, will turn undead beings that she defeats into her servants and use them to hunt mortals and monsters on dark nights.
I'm including a number of new class archetypes based on mythological beliefs about magic and warriors; including knights who perform black magic.
I'm going to include 20 new monsters from folklore, with traditional information. These monsters will all be based on real mythological creatures.
3 detailed outlines for quests; at least one based on vampires and the other based on werewolves. These outlines will allow GMs to easily plug in villains of the levels necessary to challenge the characters in your game.
Each outline will be written twice, once for an urban fantasy setting and once for a sword and sorcery setting.
What sets me apart from all other creators of materials for RPGs is that my work is based on real folk belief and traditions from the era when people huddled in the darkness. When cities in Europe declared states of emergency because of the werewolves or bodies were dug up and staked to abate the plague of vampires that was causing whole villages to flee their homes.

Other Books by Me
Discover the emotions, personalities, and motivations of the most compelling characters in Fairy Tales. Fairies are some of the most compelling characters in fairy tales, yet few people understand them. From fairy refugees to blood thirsty vampires this book takes you on a journey to discover what drove these characters, where they came from, and what they wanted. Using folk belief and lore to explore the first fantasy stories, which are likely far stranger and more astounding than you ever imagined, this book will help you to understand; Who fairies such as Rumpelstiltskin, The Seven Dwarfs, and Cinderella's 'Godmother' were, where they came from, and what they wanted. What drove vampires to slaughter tens of millions of people, What compelled witches to act both good and evil so that people, both feared and loved them, And much, much more...
Understanding Fairy Mythology
Like a word stuck on the tip of your tongue that you can't quite remember, fairy tales aggravate us with deeper meanings we're almost certain we know, but can’t quite recall. For just enough of the old fairy faiths survive within them to tantalize us with their forgotten mysteries; teasing us with a hidden past filled with dark guardians to the underworld, bright and beautiful fairies, and long winters nights people feared would never end. There is still a mysterious heart to fairy tales, giving us a peek into a primal world, beckoning us to recall old traditions. This book will seek to explore these old traditions, to answer questions about the hidden origins of fairy tales.
Mythology Manual: Fairies, Shamans and Deities: for Pathfinder or 5e
A d20 and Pathfinder manual from the folklorist writer of "A Writer's Guide to Fairies, Witches, and Vampires" and " From Celtic Fairies to Romanian Vampires."
This book will use actual mythology and folklore to help you understand the world of deities, fairies, and magic from a time when people gossiped about encountering the magical world the way we might discuss encountering a celebrity.
With this book the GM will be able to create new rich adventures, and NPC’s for the characters to overcome, meet, and befriend. PC's will also be given more ways to interact with the world in which they play, through new options, and ways of thinking of their surroundings.
In addition to helping you expand the worlds in which you already play, this book can help you to develop your own world. Either way, this book will be different from most Manuals and Guides, because it will use quotes from actual myths and tales to explain the different creatures within.
Ancient peoples believed that nearly everything had a cause that the fortunes and misfortunes, and even the strange behaviors of humanity occurred because of magical creatures that inhabited everything. Known by many names these faeries, fey, good folk, spirits, etc would help inspire artists, cause cows to grow ill, or make winter come early.
Risks and challenges
The Treatises are already written, and simply need to be edited.
I've gotten a good start on the vampire and werewolf races as well as the quests. However, there are always some risks. Illness or other work could force me to delay this project. A vampire could drain my blood or a werewolf could devour me. Both of which might potentially cause some hick-ups. Still, failing such tragedies I will get this project out to everyone in a fairly timely manner.
