I already have a Pathfinder/d20 version of this book completed. Converting fairies to a 5e System is a bit trickier, however, and so requires some rewrites. Still, most of this book is completed.
- Note - In the survey at the end of the project I will ask if you want the Pathfinder 1E or the 5E version, and will send you the version you specify. So you can get whichever one you wish. This book will use actual mythology and folklore to help you understand the world of deities, fairies, and magic from a time when people gossiped about encountering the magical world the way we might discuss encountering a celebrity. With this book the GM will be able to create new rich adventures, and NPC’s for the characters to overcome, meet, and befriend. PC's will also be given more ways to interact with the world in which they play, through new options, and ways of thinking of their surroundings. In addition to helping you expand the worlds in which you already play, this book can help you to develop your own world. Either way, this book will be different from most Manuals and Guides, because it will use quotes from actual myths and tales to explain the different creatures within. Ancient peoples believed that nearly everything had a cause that the fortunes and misfortunes, and even the strange behaviors of humanity occurred because of magical creatures that inhabited everything. Known by many names these faeries, fey, good folk, spirits, etc would help inspire artists, cause cows to grow ill, or make winter come early.
I grew up in villages in Alaska where fairy tales and lore where still important. So when I studied fairy tales and mythology in college I knew that these were more than just stories, people believed that the magical being sin them were real, and that their lives depended on remaining on their good side. I have written a number of books on fairy lore already, including; "A Writer's Guide to Fairies, Witches, and Vampires" and "From Celtic Fairies to Romanian Vampires." What's inside Information on Shamans and Witches This book will provide the information you need to play witches as shamans. According to the Winkleman, every society had traditions that were related to shamanistic ideas. The Benandanti of Italy would ride animal spirits into the other world to battle evil beings that sought to steal their crops. In England there were people who would send their souls out of their bodies in the form of wolves, and in ancient Greece there were men who would become possessed by nymphs in order to gain magical powers.
Details on Fairies and their Kin
Ancient peoples believed that nearly everything had a cause that the fortunes and misfortunes, and even the strange behaviors of humanity occurred because of magical creatures that inhabited everything. Known by many names these faeries, fey, good folk, spirits, etc would help inspire artists, cause cows to grow ill, or make winter come early. Within RPG worlds these the fey exist as magical creatures both as part of the world of mortals and as part of their own world, one which extends through the cosmos to touch all planes. Hugely important to all magical worlds the fairies have been little touched on in the world of RPG's, until now. This book will include a monster manual and guide to playing dozens of different fairies.
Details on Deities
Some of the greatest stories in mythology are about deities. From Thor setting out to battle his enemies in the vast wilderness, to Ninigi-no-Mikoto quest to pacify a dangerous world so humanity would have a safe place to live in Japanese lore. Yet RPGs go out of their way to make these characters and stories unplayable - until now. This book will integrate the true mythology surrounding deities into your role playing game, making it easier to include deities as PCs and NPCs in your game. Cosmology of the Other Worlds in Mythology In mythology and lore the other worlds were all around us, such that a person could step off the hunting path or walk around a larger tree three times and find themselves in the spirit worlds. This book will break down some of the more interesting cosmologies from mythology.
My other Books
"From Celtic Fairies to Romanian Vampires"
Like a word stuck on the tip of your tongue that you can't quite remember, fairy tales aggravate us with deeper meanings we're almost certain we know, but can’t quite recall. For just enough of the old fairy faiths survive within them to tantalize us with their forgotten mysteries; teasing us with a hidden past filled with dark guardians to the underworld, bright and beautiful fairies, and long winters nights people feared would never end. There is still a mysterious heart to fairy tales, giving us a peek into a primal world, beckoning us to recall old traditions. This book will seek to explore these old traditions, to answer questions about the hidden origins of fairy tales. “From Celtic Fairies to Romanian Vampires,” this book will take you on a journey to understand fairy tales which are likely far stranger and more beautiful than you ever imagined.
Writer's Guide to Fairies, Witches, and Vampires

Fairies are some of the most compelling characters in fairy tales, yet few people understand them. From fairy refugees to blood thirsty vampires this book takes you on a journey to discover what drove these characters, where they came from, and what they wanted. Using folk belief and lore to explore the first fantasy stories, which are likely far stranger and more astounding than you ever imagined, this book will help you to understand; Who fairies such as Rumpelstiltskin, The Seven Dwarfs, and Cinderella's 'Godmother' were, where they came from, and what they wanted. What drove vampires to slaughter tens of millions of people, What compelled witches to act both good and evil so that people, both feared and loved them, And much, much more...
Risks and challenges
There are always some risks associated with created a new book. Risks I have hopefully minimized by already completing much of the rough draft before coming on Kickstarter. That said, flu season is here which could slow me down, as could an unexpected freelance job, and a number of other events.
That said, as long as I'm still able to write I will finish this project.
