Sandblasting finish

Hi everyone,
The response to this project has been amazing so far, please keep sharing it!

I thought I'd share a photo of the latest machined samples which have arrived, demonstrating a couple of different levels of sandblasting finish (making one slightly more textured than the other). Which do you prefer?

Speaking of machining, this card holder has some very nice machining work too with a subtle texture in it. Check it out!  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1631052937/matrix-titanium-and-carbon-fiber-credit-card-holde

      Hi Jim,
They were actually done exactly as you've pointed out! The top one in the photo was done with glass beads and the lower one was done with silica.

As for the sand blast finish, did you use glass bead, or silica sand?
Glass bead will give it a much smoother satin finish, as apposed to the silica sand being a more rough finish.

Hi Duncan, I think I prefer the original non-textured surface (the clean finished look). I think it will look good with the bamboo. Thanks for asking!

      Hi Jim,
The difference won't be quite as noticeable on the black version, but it will still be noticeable up close. The black version has a hard anodized finish, no paint involved :)

Not sure what difference it will make on the black version? Maybe if if it was a anodized finish of a lighter color it would stand out.

Is the black finish going to paint or anodized?

I'd stay with the original non-textured surface. I like the clean finished look.

Hey Duncan. Looking good! I'd vote for less textured. Cheers Chris
