We’re thrilled to announce that all remaining Luna units have been cleared for delivery! If you’re still waiting on your Luna, your order is currently on it’s way to you from our distribution center in Atlanta.

It’s been a whirlwind year since we launched on Kickstarter, and there’s no way we could have brought Luna to life without the incredible support from our backers. To celebrate this milestone in the Luna journey, our co-founder and CEO Matt Ronge has a special message for the Kickstarter community:

What to expect with your Luna delivery

All remaining orders received a BackerKit email last week with a reminder to confirm your shipping address. Please complete your BackerKit survey as soon as possible, as we are unable to ship your order without address confirmation. We are still waiting on 332 backers to complete their BackerKit surveys.

Additionally, if you purchased an order add-on or pre-ordered Luna via BackerKit, please verify that you have a valid credit card on file. To access your BackerKit survey, please visit https://lunadisplay.backerkit.com/

As soon as your Luna leaves the warehouse, you’ll receive an email with tracking information. Please allow up to 2 weeks for domestic shipping and 3-4 weeks for international shipping. For more information on shipments, please visit our Shipment FAQ

Behind the scenes at the Luna product shoot

A few weeks ago, we did a photoshoot for Luna to prepare for our public launch of Luna. It was also a great way to celebrate all of the progress we’ve made on Luna in the year since our Kickstarter! Here are some behind the scenes shots from our photoshoot with our Minneapolis-based creative agency Humdinger and Sons.

Preparing for Large Mini DisplayPort Batch & Introducing Office Mode

Hey Kickstarter community! In our last update, we announced that we were preparing to ship over 4,000 units (mostly USB-C). Now that these units have been delivered, we’ve fulfilled 60% of all Kickstarter orders. As we roll into the autumn months, we’re closing in on completing production of all Luna Display units — here’s what we have in store for the coming weeks:

Manufacturing of remaining Luna units begins this month

To fulfill the remaining 40% of Kickstarter orders, we are gearing up to manufacture a large batch of Mini DisplayPort units later this month. These units are estimated to arrive at our distribution center by the end of October, and will be shipped out to backers immediately after.

A note about Mini DisplayPort production: During testing, we ran into more challenges with the mDP design than we did with USB-C (we have to support over 70 Mac models for mDP versus only a handful of Mac models for USB-C). All design issues have since have been corrected and we are ready for a large-scale production run!

On track to fulfill all units by December 2018

Orders are being fulfilled on a rolling basis over the coming months, and all Luna Display units will be delivered by the end of December 2018. While we are unable to provide the specific date for an individual delivery, it is our top priority to get a Luna unit into your hands as soon as possible. Luna Software Update: Introducing Office Mode

Last week, we released a software update for Luna with a new feature called Office Mode. The Office Mode feature is designed for users who commonly work in an environment where multiple people are using Luna.

With Office Mode enabled, Luna Display will no longer automatically connect to the first computer it sees on the network. Instead, you must either connect via WiFi Manual Connect or via USB. Once you connect via WiFi Manual Connect, the information is stored on the device and will automatically connect in the next session. You can learn more about how to enable Office Mode here → Enabling Office Mode

How are you using Luna? We want to know!

At the beach? Please tag us in your photos on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)! We want to learn more about how you’re integrating Luna into your workflow.

Good news, Luna community! Over 4,000 Luna units have arrived at our distribution facility in Atlanta and are being prepared for shipment. A majority of these units are USB-C units, which will begin shipping out later this week. Once these units are delivered, we will have fulfilled roughly 60% of all Kickstarter orders.

When your Luna leaves the distribution facility, you will receive an email confirmation with a tracking link. Please allow 1-2 weeks for domestic delivery (up to 4 weeks for international orders).

Production for remaining Mini DisplayPort units begins next month

During testing, we ran into more challenges with the mDP design than we did with USB-C (we have to support over 70 Mac models for mDP versus only a handful of Mac models for USB-C). All design issues have since have been corrected. We’ll begin another manufacturing round in the first weeks of September — this time focused on producing the remaining Mini DisplayPort units. Stay tuned for more updates!

Second production batch complete, more Lunas out for delivery

Luna production is in full swing! Last week, our co-founder Giovanni travelled to China to oversee the second official manufacturing batch of Luna Display units. By now, many elements of the production process have been optimized to handle thousands of units — allowing us to scale up to 3,000 USB-C units and 1,000 Mini DisplayPort units in this batch. The video below shares a behind-the-scenes look into our latest manufacturing round, from assembly to quality testing to packaging each Luna unit.

Third production batch scheduled for late August

The units from our second production batch are currently in route to our distribution center in Atlanta and will be shipped out to backers soon after their arrival. Between our Kickstarter backers and pre-orders, we have a total of 8,551 Luna Display orders to fulfill. We fulfilled 7% of those orders (655 units) following our first batch of Luna production in June. Our next production round is planned for the end of August/ beginning of September, at which point we will fulfill 80% of USB-C orders and 30% of Mini DisplayPort orders.

All units will be delivered by the end of December 2018

Orders are being fulfilled on a rolling basis over the coming months, and all Luna Display units will be delivered by the end of December 2018. While we are unable to provide the specific date for an individual delivery, it is our top priority to get a high-quality Luna unit into your hands as soon as possible. You will receive a confirmation email with tracking info when your order ships. For more information on shipments, please visit our Shipment FAQ.

A note about Mini DisplayPort production

Because our USB-C production is ahead of Mini DisplayPort production, USB-C units will be fulfilled first, followed by Mini DisplayPort units. We aren't favoring one particular model over the other. During testing, we ran into more issues with the mDP design than we did with USB-C (we have to support over 70 Mac models for mDP versus only a handful of Mac models for USB-C). All design issues have since have been corrected, and our next production run will include both mDP and USB-C models.
