Snap is, in some ways, a small story taking place one night at a party. A moment in one girl's life that could have been ordinary but becomes something significant through a meeting and a coincidence she could never have anticipated. It is both universal and intensely personal, a reflection of the human experience regardless of time or place.
Snap is also based upon a memory, so it cannot avoid the qualities of nostalgia and imperfectly recalled events. As in dreams, the visual and aural way-markers to our memories are often more tangible than the logic of so-called reality.
So, telling this story may be like looking down a telescope backwards, when perspective is altered and the dimensions reversed, and our hope is to capture some of these essences when we shoot the film. We want it to be precise yet expansive. Touching yet robust. Funny but at the same time beautiful. Magical but also mundane. In other words, we want Snap to be a true reflection of life as it is; as it was, for that particular 16 year old, wearing that particular hat, at that particular party in that particular year. 1982.
And for those of you that weren't around or can't remember, here's a little something to set the chemical soup simmering.
If your interest has been piqued and you think you'd like to become a part of Snap, then here are some further details of how your money will be spent. As explained in our pitch, we are using our own funds to pay for what we can, but we need your help to reach our projected production budget, kindly worked out for us by a friendly expert.
Still feeling the love? Then please help us to make this project come to life. Thank you.
Risks and challenges
Snap is our first film project and, whilst we are confident that we have dotted every i and crossed every t, it is still possible that we may face some unexpected obstacles on our journey. We have striven to foresee all possible pitfalls ranging from illness, to weather, to Acts of God (!) and we have surrounded ourselves with seasoned professionals who are expert at thinking on their feet and outside the box - a tricky stance for mere mortals but not for them! Suffice to say, we are a creative bunch and hope that we can overcome most difficulties - unexpected and imagined alike - but if things go wrong we will be sure to keep all interested parties abreast of developments, just as we will if they go right! We have a limited window of time in which to complete our project and a tight budget to boot, but with the unlimited goodwill and commitment of our cast and crew we know we will have a piece of work at the end of that window that we will all be proud of.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
