If you've stumbled upon this page, you must have impeccable taste, as mega-talents Noah Van Sciver and Nic Breutzman have a new larger format (17 1/2" x 11") comic called Deep in the Woods, and you have a chance to get an advance copy! As you may have gathered from the vid above, the stories are urban myth/fairy tale-ish. Perfect for Halloween, right?
It'll be about 28 pages and, as it's a double feature, there'll be a tasty creeper of a yarn by each artist. Deep in the Woods will be captured on newsprint, and for 8$ (shipping included for US citizenry -- more for other-worlders -- see sidebar) you can snag yourself a copy.
We've got a couple specials in addition to the comic itself -- on the mid-tier, you can get a 2DC care package that comes with Deep in the Woods, Motherlover, The Death of Elijah Lovejoy (+ an awesome/weird misprint from the production), and Yearbooks (scroll through link for examples if you like). On the higher and more exclusive end, we've signed Noah and Nic up to create 5 one-of-a-kind exquisite corpse-style drawings. I think these will truly be something special.
So... the reason we've decided to use Kickstarter yet again as our pre-order system is really largely due to our past successes with the platform, not to mention the modest stream of funds that flow to cartoonists and their micro-publishers. Should we raise the minium amount, let alone exceed it, we'll be using a chunk of that to pay Nic and Noah some dosh up front and to help offset the production costs.
If you are itching for the latest work by Noah and Nic, or know someone who wants something creepy, crinkly, and slick -- give us a hollar and some dollars!

Risks and challenges
Some of our risks and challenges will be making sure to get these copies out to backers first and getting production wrapped up in a timely fashion. The comics are mostly done, copy editing, production are where we are at (oh and fund-raising!). Once we've got those squared away we can blast this to the printer and focus on getting these guys out to backers first. The rest of the world won't get a crack at it until March next year at the very earliest. We're hoping/shooting to have these in backers hands a month before everyone else -- if not sooner.
Having had 3 successful Kickstarters prior (LOTS of growing pains there), I think we've got a fair shot of not screwing this up.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
