What is Tooga?
With the current outdated bulky gear on the market, it's practically impossible to fit all your essential camera gear ranging from the larger rigs to even the smaller dollys in your average camera bag. Tooga Gear is an innovative modular system designed to minimize camera gear storage yet maximize in performance without compromise. Tooga is comprised of two different type of components: Tooga Shell and Tooga Extensions. With the combination of the two components, Tooga Gear will transform into the camera gear you need.
The Tooga Shell is the core component of the Tooga System. Tooga Shell mounts to your camera of choice and connects to unique Tooga Extensions, providing functionality that your camera alone lacks. Designing the system around a core component allows users to use or upgrade their camera gear without buying a whole new product. This minimizes costs for buyers when expanding their camera gear collection.
Snap Button Connection
No one enjoys wasting time setting up their gear. Our custom Snap Button Connection is the easiest way to mount any Tooga Extensions to the Tooga Shell. We created a unique connection system to enable a secure and quick connection to make sure you’re out there shooting and not wasting time setting up. We spent a lot of time and attention on the design of the Snap Button Connection. After countless prototypes and testing, we've found the perfect balance between secureness and ease of use.
Tooga Extensions are the legs and arms of the system. We currently have 3 Tooga extensions fully designed and production ready. We have many more Tooga Extensions in the design process but we need your help to bring the Tooga Gear to life!
Our innovative Tooga Cage was designed to stay true to Tooga's core of being portable, light-weight, and versatile. The Tooga Cage provides a comfortable hand-grip, versatile cheese-plate to mount all your accessories, and even protection for your device. We designed the Cage to fit anything within the dimensions of 6in x 6in (comfortably fitting a Canon EOS 5D Mark III or Nikon D800). The Tooga Cage's cheese-plate also provides enough 1/4-20" thread mounts, 3/8-16" thread mounts, and couple of cold shoe mounts to attach all your accessories.
Adding a few super slow tracking or panning scenes is a game-changer to the quality of anyone’s film. The Tooga Dolly works by simply placing it on a smooth surface and gliding at the speed of your choice. The Tooga Dolly’s wheel chassis allows a total of 6 1/4-20” thread mounts to attach your LED lights, microphones, and other accessories. The Tooga Dolly’s wheel axis can also swivel to your desired arc or simply go straight. Check out some of the shots we got with the Tooga Dolly.
The Tooga Suction Mount is incredibly powerful. The Tooga Suction Mount comes in a set of 4 suction cups that allows you stick your camera to just about any smooth surface. We wanted to make sure your device is safely mounted in any usage so we tested this on just about anything from walls, mirrors, cars, to even a plane. Mounting on stationary objects is a perfect way to quickly set up a time-lapse. Mounting on moving objects is spectacular for unique shots in its point of view. This is a must-have for any videographer.
Devices compatible with Tooga
From iPhoneographers to professional videographers, all of Tooga Gear works with just about any camera device ranging in size from smartphones, GoPro, to DSLR, or any other device up to 5lbs. Whatever camera you choose, Tooga Gear will take your video to the next level.
Why should I back this project?
Modular & portable gear in a small form factor is truly a revolutionary idea, and we want to bring to the world the camera gear of the future. We are just a small team with a big dream, so we need your help to bring our dream to reality and ultimately in your hands. We will use the money raised from Kickstarter to purchase our molds and metal stock to get our production rolling immediately. As our backers, you will be the first to experience the Tooga for an unbelievable price! When will I receive the Tooga?
This project launches December 18th and will run for 40 days ending January 27th.
The longest part of the production process is making the molds for the plastic parts. This takes around 45 days. Two weeks after that we should receive the finished goods. We will then test before shipping to our backers. We conservatively expect to start shipment in May 2014.
International shipments may take longer depending on customs procedures, etc. We plan to use DHL for the fastest international shipment outside the US.
Shan Kim is the Product Designer for the Tooga Concept. Shan has mechanical engineering experience and is killer with 3D modeling and stress test analysis software.
Chris Anderson is an experienced video enthusiast, mechanical engineer, and entrepreneur. He has past experiences building and selling camera gear and tech gadgets with several start ups.
Kay Kim and Benson Lam are full time students at the Art Center in Los Angeles. On top of creative concept design assistance, these two managed and executed the entire Tooga launch process.
If our campaign succeeds, we will proceed with more innovative extensions to the Tooga Gear. Our team already has many other concepts in plan. We can’t wait until we share what more the Tooga can do! The possibilities are endless!

Risks and challenges
Our supply chain is top notch and we have worked with most of these suppliers in the past but unforeseen delays could arise if one of our suppliers is slow to deliver.
