A fractal art book
A fractal art book
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Thu, October 31 2019 11:06 PM UTC +00:00.
I am Alex, a Sydney based artist and I've put this Kickstarter together in the hope of funding my first art book, 'Fractal Aesthetics.'
Fractal Aesthetics will feature over 100 original 3D fractal artworks which I have created over the last year. All the work is done and the only thing left to do is to get it printed. The book will be large, close to A3 size, to show the textures and intricacies of the fractals. It will be hardcover with thick pages, it will be beautiful. I have arranged the printing, packaging and shipping so with your support we can make this book a reality!
I can't give a very good explanation of what fractals truly are. The phrase was coined by the mathematician Benoit B. Mandelbrot when he set out to develop a new geometry of nature to describe the irregular and fragmented patterns of nature.
I barely understand even the simplest of Mandelbrot's ideas but I see the fractals in nature which he sought to describe. Advances in fractal maths and computing have opened up a new frontier for artists. An infinite frontier of shapes, forms and compositions. A purely mathematical art, devoid of narrative, sentimentality and politics.
This book is an important step in the development of this new art form.
After sending my art off to publishers and applying for grants I've had a lot of rejection as every artist has. Kickstarter is the perfect way for me to produce the book with complete creative control. I've been itching to hold a copy of the book in my hands and share my art with a wider audience. Kickstarter is the ultimate platform for artists and audiences to create cultural works together.
Risks and challenges
If we reach the funding goal, all I have to do is send a few emails and the book will be rolling off the press and flying to you. I have set myself the challenge of trying to get it in your hands by Christmas this year. If there are unforseen delays in shipping or printing the books may ship early next year.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
