Stretch Goal #2, delivered at $7000.
I think we can still get there if we spread the word during this last day. Especially if anyone has a family member with a business or an employer who'd like to jump on board as a sponsor. (Heck a second diamond sponsor and we'll be talking Stretch Goal #3 which involves a FREE dessert bar!) However, if we can make $7000, we will add:
- Food trucks! Lexicon will guarantee we will have food trucks on site to increase your dining options.
- All Kickstarter backers at the $20 level or higher will receive a special Lexicon 2015 Meeple.
- All Kickstarter backers at the $20 level or higher will receive a special Lexicon 2015 coaster or coozie (or an additional die).
- Lexicon Founder and your host, Chris, will allow himself to be videotaped receiving a lap dance at the Saturday night party. The person conducting the dance will be selected by acclaim of the party attendees. (Personally, I'm hoping that Chumlee from Pawn Stars is there.)
Stretch Goal #1, delivered at $6000
- Lexicon will make the snack bar available all weekend.
- Kickstarter backers will have a final vote on costumes warn by Lexicon hosts.
- All Kickstarter backers at the $20 level or higher will receive an additional Lexicon 2015 die.
What is Lexicon?
Well, we hope it is more than just a gaming weekend. Don't get us wrong, there are lots and lots of games. BUT. You can just get together with your friends and you can play games. Like last year, we want Lexicon to be so much more than that. We want it to be a weekend (not just any weekend ... April 17-19. 2015) of fun and friends and memories you're never going to forget.
We are bringing back the best stuff. The 1000+ game library, the Saturday party (with Werewolf and special treats from West 6th) and the Cosplay contest will all be back. RPGs, CCGs, open gaming, new releases, play-to-win, all of those will be there. And of course we will have lots of tournaments and the latest games from the best publishers including brand new 2015 releases.
We are improving things that could have been better. RPGs will be bigger with more prizes. Miniatures will be better with more prizes. Plus we are dropping fees from individual games. If you want to learn a new game, there will be no separate charge this year.
We are expanding even more. Vendor space sold out early last year, so with even more vendor space in 2015 expect lots of cool things to browse and buy. Our Settlers of Catan tournament will now be a Regional Qualifier with more spaces and the winner going to GenCon 2015 (this event sold out last year). We are adding a Friday night party! We are increasing the prizes in number and value and giving them away all weekend. How are we going to do all this? We have a ton of new and returning volunteers like Natasha, Rob, Karen, Larry, Josh, Leila, and so many more that joined us early. But mostly with your support. That's right, Lexicon is you, our backers here on Kickstarter.
And for you that means better prizes for RPGs, better prizes for miniatures, more publishers involved this year, more vendors, more costumes (hint, hint, cool rewards for people just for coming in costume), more and better food, more parties...just more, and all of it even better than last year.
The bottom line is, as Chris said, "I just want people to have as good a time as I had at my first Con, every year. No, I want it to get better each year." Lexicon is the most Geek fun in Lexington, the Bluegrass, Kentucky and beyond; and we want you to be a part of it.•Snack Bar will be available for the whole weekend •We will let our Kickstarter backers vote on costumes to be worn by Lexicon hosts •We will add an additional Lexicon die for all KS backers (another d6 or add a d10?) Risks and challenges
The truth is we did this blind last year. And we learned a lot. But we sure had a lot of fun. We didn't quite cover our costs which is why we are doing the Kickstarter this year and because we want it to be bigger and better! If we can raise the necessary money, here then pending major disaster such as a fire at the Convention Center, then you can bet this is happening.
We already have six Superheroes (ok, volunteer area coordinators, but they're Superheroes to us) helping out with core areas which means we are way ahead of last year. Plus we have a bunch of returning volunteers. That said, because an event like ours does rely on volunteers, there is always the chance that specific events may have to be canceled because those volunteers are no longer available.
The real key isn't will Lexicon happen, the question is how big can it be. With your support, we will make sure it is amazing!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
