Who We Are
Joe Doria - Hammond B3 organ
Andy Coe - guitar
Tarik Abouzied - drums
McTuff is an instrumental Hammond organ trio that performs jazz, funk, and rock in an energetic and spontaneous style all our own. We have two albums under our belt and have built a devoted fan base of people who love to groove!
Along with stops at venues and festivals all over the country,we're fortunate to have played a free weekly show at our favorite venue, Seattle's Seamonster Lounge, for over three years now. We've met tons of awesome people who have come out to hang and hear the music, and who keep coming back to support Seamonster and the band. Just like coming out and filling the dance floor at our shows, this Kickstarter is an opportunity to invest in real musicians making great music.
Buy what you can and, together, we'll finish this stellar album and get it out to the masses!
What You're Funding
In December 2012, McTuff and special guest Skerik visited Electrokitty Sound Studio, one of the finest studios in the region, and recorded a mix of brand new originals and covers. These slamming tracks need to be mixed, mastered, printed onto CD's, and promoted, all of which require significant financial resources. We've invested everything we have to make this recording happen, and now we've come to the community we love to raise the rest.
What Comes Next - The Album Process Details
The music has been recorded, and its potential is limitless. The songs are 150% McTuff, the performances were spot on, and the guys on the other side of the glass were complete professionals. As much as that sounds like an incredible accomplishment, that's only the beginning of making a recording a success.
The next step is making these recordings sound the best they can, which involves more time in the studio to balance the instruments and make them sing. After that comes mastering, which is a process that gives the freshly polished tracks consistency on all the different speakers they will be heard on, from $10 ear buds to $5,000 audiophile setups.
After mastering comes manufacturing. The master recording, along with professionally produced artwork, will be mailed to a manufacturer for replication. A few weeks and a few thousand dollars later, we'll have 1,000 copies of Volume 3! But it's only just begun...
Once Volume 3 is recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced, nobody will know about the new music besides the band and our most loyal fans. To make sure this recording gets the attention it deserves, we need to embark on a two-pronged approach of publicity and touring. McTuff will hire a publicist that will send copies of Vol. 3 to press and radio around the country and who will follow up to make sure this recording is being recognized. The band will also take to the road with the momentum from press reviews and radio play and put on our live show in as many cities as possible.
As you may have guessed, all of this takes a lot of time from a lot of skilled professionals. Without their effort, even the most incredible albums can quickly fade away in a music industry inundated with infinite releases from countless bands.
This music deserves to be heard, and we want to make sure that happens.
A special shout out to our friends Mike Day, Justing Armstrong, and Gary Reynolds for working with us in such an incredible room. These three guys devoted their time, expertise, and resources to help make this recording happen and we couldn't have done it without them!
Also a special thanks to Darren Gallagher at JetCityMusic.com for making it out to Seamonster to shoot some footage of the band and the crowd!
Risks and challenges
The risk is minimal, as the music is high caliber and everyone who supports this project will be getting something tangible in return, aside from our endless gratitude of course! When this project is funded, the record WILL be produced and everyone who participated will get their ears on it.
We want to thank you for checking out our Kickstarter and investing in the music and the musicians that make it. Browse through the rewards, buy what you can, and with your help we can accomplish great things!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
