About this project
Loop is a stylish ring with a personal alarm button, that allows you to send a distress message to five of your most trusted friends and family members when you need help.
But most times you might not be able to get to your phone quick enough.
Your friends can see your location on a map, they can call you or they can notify the authorities if they feel you need help immediately.
Remember, Loop ONLY requests and shares your location during an alarm.
We understand the value of your privacy and work every day to ensure it’s always safe and well protected!
Our users have shared that they have used Loop for many reasons:
- Safety: in a panic situation, don't worry, your friends will know exactly where you are.
- Convenience: No need to hustle with pulling out your phone.
- Location notification: no need to explain where you are or have someone pick you up.
Simplicity and ease of use are the core principles that guide our design vision. You will find our app to be very easy to use, always thinking about your needs.
That’s a question we’ve asked ourselves for a long time. From our previous experience we know people are tired of having to wear technology that makes us look like cyborgs from a 70s movie.
The first time we tested our initial prototype was an exciting day...for several reasons. First, it was pretty big and that of course made all of us a bit nervous as we knew we had to work really hard to get it to where our jewelry designer wanted to get. But it was also very exciting because for the first time we were seeing our idea becoming a reality.
Fast forward into the 15th prototype, our form factor was pretty much set, the team was able to reduce the size to make it fit for the first time on an actual ring. It was a 3D printed ring but once more, excitement filled the room, knowing we were that much closer now!
Now moving to our prototype 23, that was probably the biggest change we saw. We received our first machined pieces from the factory and were able to test a product very similar to the final design.
Now with a much more mature product we moved into other things, like packaging. When we received the first boxes, the feeling going around the office was “man we made it!” Having the packaging in our hands made it feel like a real product!
And last but not least, the final prototype, what we have today. A beautiful unit that can be put side by side with beautiful rings from anywhere in the world.
Yeah, we are proud of what we’ve built and we are absolutely sure you’ll love it too!
We are a group of regular women and men that are passionate about technology. We decided to start this journey as a way to create the products that we wanted for us and couldn't find.
We feel hardware products most times look and feel too techie making us and most people we know, uncomfortable and intimidated.
We love our families and want the best for them. We decided to build a personal alarm first because we want to protect them at all times. After all, we are all a big extended family. We have a team of 7 people, which in turn, translates into 5 spouses, 8 kids ranging from 1-month-old to 15 yrs old, 14 parents and 10 grandparents….so yeah we are a big family!
Our team has worked together in several projects for more than four years. We met working at a digital marketing agency where we built several hardware and software projects for different clients.
We have experience working with large phone manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, software architects and marketing experts with over 40 years of experience working for large corporations. We’ve been there, we’ve done that!

Risks and challenges
We are pumped about launching our beautiful accessories to the world. However, we
understand the most important task now is to deliver your rings on time.
We’ve spent over 2 years working on our technology to have a fully functional solution before
we launched our campaign.
Our apps for both iOS and Android have been completed and are ready to be downloaded.
We’ve run a pilot in South America for the past 5 months to clean up all the bugs we can find.
We have agreements with manufacturers and are ready to start production the minute the
campaign closes.
We’ve taken all the necessary steps we can take to minimize risks associated with
production and delivery of Loop, however, a project of this magnitude is always open to
unforeseeable problems with manufacturing, packaging or shipping.
We are ready to face these challenges and together with our team of advisors, our mentors from
Hax and MaRS and our manufacturing partners, we feel very confident we are prepared to
deal with all the challenges that will come our way in the next few months, and delivery a
high-quality product to meet your standards.
